We recently purchased a used 2008 Winnebago which we found on the internet from a dealer 660 miles away. We were told it had everything on it we wanted including a dome satellite. We arrived Sunday evening and supposedly had an 8 o'clock appointment the next morning. Monday morning we were told that there were three others put in front of us. They knew we were pressed for time and needed to leave that afternoon. It was noon before they got to us. We should have been more observative, but we thought we could trust them and what we were told would be true. It did not have the dome satellite and we found other small issues not to be true. We had already put a 5000 dollar nonrefundable deposit down.
There were only 8500 miles on the R.V.,and they did not service it because it did not have enough miles according to the book. ( It is a diesel ) The oil looks like it should have been changed a couple thousand miles ago. Do you think it is right to buy a 250,000 dollar motor home that has this many miles without service?
The dealer is asking for a 100% satifaction report to Winnebago.
We are not happy with the way we were treated. I guess we want to know if we are wrong to feel the way we do.
We did save about 8000 dollars over the price of a new unit.

Ouch!!
If you weren't happy - I would tell the truth to them (the dealer first) and see if they make it right. If not, then tell Winnie about it.

In my opion, it should have had an engine service and lube before transferr of ownship. As for the satisfaction report, complete it honestly. I wouldn't hide the facts from anyone. JM2Cents Bill
PS, the oil in any disel, looks bad after just a few hours, you need a lab test to see what the condiction truely is.

I think it is not prudent to put a $5000 non-refundable deposit on anything. It makes it impossible to walk away if you are unhappy. If it is too good to believe it probably is.

Giving a dealer $5000.00 as a "non refundable deposit" on a sight unseen purchase is just insane. Did you read the deposit papers before sending the money. There would have or should have been language in their protecting you especially if the coach was not as advertised, so that you could have an "out" and hopefully get your deposit back sometime in the next 5 years. Lots of discussion on these forums about purchasing sight unseen and most seem very negative. There is no way you should do a 100% report to Winnebago. I would be talking to the dealer about the false advertising of the unit and then to Winnebago how you were slammed. Does your state have a 3 day or 72 hour "change your mind" type of law? I hope the dealer makes it right with you on the sat dish and anything else "missing". I'm sure the diesel guys on here will let you know on the oil change vs. mileage.

You saved $8,000 on a $250,000 unit???? I guess you get what you pay for. I would of paid the $8k (2% more) and got a new unit.

Diesel service intervals are 15k or so miles so its not a big suprise they didn't offer to service it.
Honestly though, you got the deal you made. If you want the dome make them put it in if it was in the paperwork if its not then you don't really have much of a leg to stand on.
You can't go into large purchases thinking others have your best interest at heart. They don't.
I won't even ask what the MSRP of the unit was and what you paid because that might add more fuel to the fire but let this be a lesson not to trust anyone when you are shelling out $$$$ like that.

Welcome to the world of RV"S and RV dealerships!
The oil change would be low on my list of concerns.
To be blunt, you created some of this mess (and its not that big of a mess) yourself. Buying a $250K motorhome and being in a hurry doesn't make much sense. A dealer should encourage and you should have insisted on staying in the motorhome at least one night on the lot with a follow up service walk thru the next day. There is an excellent list of things to look for before buying (PDI-Pre-Delivery Inspection)that you should have completed BEFORE SIGNING. This would have identified the missing sat dish and a list of other things you will be finding in the next few weeks and months. My 05 DP required a service at 5000 but I think some of that has changed. Only way to know is read the maintenance manual.
I would tell the dealer you are not inclined to fill out the feedback survey until you are completely satisfied. Don't get confrontational or ugly. Be polite and firm.
Good luck.

My only experience with the RV dealer was I pointed out the water stain on the ceiling and they told me they are all build like that. From that moment on I know to trust one as far as I can throw one. Put $5000 none refunable down sight unseen is a bad mistake on any purchase let alone when buying a RV, got no one to blame.

To me, a non-refundable deposit always means trouble with the item being sold. The incident with the non-refundable deposit is very disturbing. I've never heard of a reputable
dealer pulling such a prank as to require you to do so. It's almost like he new he was selling you a problem unit and wanted to get at least something out of the deal. If you state has a BAR (Bureau of Automotive Repair, you might want to pursue a claim with them. Since it's $5000, maybe you could try Judge Judy!!!! She loves cases like this. Good Luck!!
