In a hurry now in a slurry. It's a good idea to never rush a big ticket item. It's OK though, hind site is 20-20. Oh congratulations on the new coach.

If you have anything in writing between you and the dealer/salesman about the dish, then print it out and send it to the dealer along with a nice note saying you would like to give him a 100% favorable as soon as you are 100% satisfied. As far as the oil change, forget it, as diesels now days go 15K between change and as was pointed out earlier, the oil looks dirty 1/2 hour after it is changed. Just remember, this dealer evidently does NOT have your best interest at heart.

The new Allsions don't require the 5,000 mile filter change either, but I'd check the serial number with the Allison site. I'd psot the link but I'm at work right now, and don't have my laptop out yet.

Best advice yet. What is printed on the contract is what you paid for, despite all those verbal promises.

upside is you bought a nearly new coach from a long time manufacturer and you can find a new dealer to get work done.

So now, load up, go camping and enjoy

I will have to ditto on what every one else has pointed out.

Number one in my mind is don't ever trust an RV salesman. We were lied openly to our face many times when we shopped for our unit. In the end, we bought one off E-Bay from the owner and got the best deal in the USA (no kidding).

Bottom line: Caveat emptor... True today as it was 2000 years ago.

Jim, I think the message here is that a buyer has to assume ownership for the decisions one makes in the purchase of a motorhome. Without knowing what your power train is or your experience with diesels. If the engine is an ISL the first service is not due until 18,000 miles the Transmission would have been due at service at 5000 miles. In terms of the oil is does not take very long for the oil to look tar black...that is just the nature of a diesel.

I am not advocating in anyway for you to indicate your 100% satisfaction but I am wanting to raise the issue of buyer responsibility. If you did not get what you expected then it falls on the buyer as much as the seller if they misrepresented the unit. Keeping in mind that buyers have the responsibility to do due diligence. The only entitiy representing buyers interest is the buyer

The other point I would raise and its one that I focused on in the long winded post on buying is that never put yourself in a situation where the timing of accepting a unit is sub optimized by self imposed time pressures.. All this serves to do is work in the buyer disfavor.

I would also caution against folks putting none conditional deposits which tend to sub optimize the vetting out process.

With out comment on the financial s I really hope when the smoke clears you are happy with you choice and enjoy a continuum of pleasurable Class A travel and camping experience.

You saved 8k over the price of a new unit? Was that after the assumed automatic 25% off MSRP? Sounds like a bad report to Winnie on this dealer.

Here is a slightly different viewpoint -- we did buy a Winnie sight unseen and had it delivered -- but had a great experience. I will say that we were very careful in the paperwork, many photos (of both the new coach and our trade) and were very specific in what the coach would be like (miles on it, etc). We were told that there would be a close PDI and to expect things to work -- and I am pleased to report that things did work! I will also say that I had several recommendations supporting the dealer before I even contacted them.

We did a walk around with the driver and found the coach in great condition, which was just as described by the dealer. We have now had the coach several weeks and are delighted with it.

Interestingly, a friend down to street from us in the RV park bought a new unit locally the same time we did. He has, unfortunately, had nothing but problems with it and very poor service to boot.

I guess the key is to try and be specific about expectations, deliverables and reputation.
