Giving a dealer $5000.00 as a "non refundable deposit" on a sight unseen purchase is just insane. Did you read the deposit papers before sending the money. There would have or should have been language in their protecting you especially if the coach was not as advertised, so that you could have an "out" and hopefully get your deposit back sometime in the next 5 years. Lots of discussion on these forums about purchasing sight unseen and most seem very negative. There is no way you should do a 100% report to Winnebago. I would be talking to the dealer about the false advertising of the unit and then to Winnebago how you were slammed. Does your state have a 3 day or 72 hour "change your mind" type of law? I hope the dealer makes it right with you on the sat dish and anything else "missing". I'm sure the diesel guys on here will let you know on the oil change vs. mileage.

I agree 100%.

Go to a reputable dealer who is local. We had a bad experience at a national service center and will go back home to our dealer. They're gems and are always willing to help us. That's why we've purchased several MHs from them. The internet is creating havoc with good deals and bad service. Sell one, stick the key in it and it's ready to go. Not worth saving any amount of money.

something is a little fishy here, this is a "used" unit but they are having you send in the owner satisfaction report to manufacturer? This should have been done by the ORIGINAL purchaser when supposedly first sold! you don't have the true representation on this RV !!! was it a wreck? demo? repo? drowned? not trying to scare you but you have to research this and get the truth, you may wan't to legally undo this deal when you find all the facts.

Dead on! Sort out all the advise given by our knowledgeable forum members and it comes down to one thing - you were mislead and flat out lied to. Sending the money may not have the wisest thing to do but takes a back seat to being lied to. If in fact this is a used unit the report to Winnie is long since been sent - if it were me I would be on the phone to Winnebago tomorow. Buyer beware only goes so far - then it becomes almost criminal.

Did you ever think that Winnebago might like to know how it's franchised dealers treat their customers whether it was a new or used unit?
Did you ever think that maybe in his state current models that have mileage from being classified as a Demonstrator unit or previously used by employees and never titled may have to be sold as used although they carry a new warranty?

Ask to see the title the dealer holds. That should tell you a lot, may be.

Did you ever think that may be even though it is a used unit as someone had it and didn't like it or had to stop using it for what ever reason(s), that because it is a 2008 and probably still carries a new vehicle warranty; that Winnebago may still want to get customer satisfaction reports?

I am not condoning the purchase procedure here but I wouldn't be too quick to judge whether a satisfaction survey is or is not required here or desired here by Winnebago.

I still like the idea of personally visiting with the head man/woman at the dealership. A lot can be said for contractual agreements whether verbal or written. If the dealer hasn't lived up to their end of the contract then may be the deposit isn't in jeopardy..The customer did give the deposit in "good faith".

Only $8000 off...Used is Used...Don't you remember the dealers stories of "once it leaves the showroom you lose 20%. I would have taken AT LEAST 25% off MSRP and THEN negotiate as a used vehicle, probab;y another $20k minimum. And the dealer better be kissin' my butt the whole time......Unless, of course, you've got tons of money and you can't be bothered.

It was driven by an executive of one of the companies that makes parts for winnebago. The sales person said he did tell me it was a domed satellite system. He said he did not put it in writing. All I got was I am sorry, sure is easy for him. Jim

The OP never said "$8,000 off". He said "We did save about 8000 dollars over the price of a new unit"

I'm with these 2. Why on earth would a "used" '08 be traded already. Unless there was a really good and believable story behind it I'd be a bit leery. Oh well...too late now. As was said earlier, load it up and enjoy it! The past is past.
I'm with Bruce on this one. Too many red flags; non-refundable deposit to start, dealer not standing behind what salesman said about satellite dome, and a push - hurry-up deal.

I guess it's a good thing they are dealing with you instead of me as I would have their name plastered all over the Internet if they tried to pull that on me.

Info on the transmission service can be found here.

The above references this statement. So you will need to find out if you have the high capacity filter. NOTE: An initial 5,000-mile filter change interval is required for all New, ReTranĀ®, and Overhauled transmissions unless you are using a high-capacity filter. For more information, refer to the Initial Filter Change Interval Recommendation Chart.
You can get the serial number of your transmission from Freightliner 800-385-4357, then go here and input the serial number to get information on your transmission.

Good luck with the new motorhome, We enjoy our Vectra.

Jim
Here is the correct information on the filter change that is no longer required at 5,000 miles per my previous post.

From page 2 of the Service Tip #1099F:
3000 and 4000 Product Families Transmissions Elimination of Initial Filter Change Requirement and Kit: Beginning with S/N 6510670912, S/N 6610205144, S/N 6520067342,and S/N 6620002521 transmissions equipped with Allison high-capacity filter do not require an initial main filter change at 5000 miles/8000 km/200 hours. However, serial numbers prior to those numbers listed above, Allison Transmission requires the initial filter change interval. An
initial main filter kit (2 inch kit P/N 29540495 or 4 inch kit P/N 29540496) contains only one Gold series filter and all necessary seals and gaskets to perform the first 5000 mile/8000 km/200 hour main filter change. These kits have been completely cancelled. Once stock has been depleted, it will be necessary to order the high-capacity filter from the Allison Parts Distribution Center.

On edit: the approved TES-295 fluids can be found HERE.

But the OP has never stated what that $8,000 "saving" was figured from. If it's the MSRP then he paid more than the original owner did.

We should probably get something straight. From a legal standpoint, there is no such thing as a non-refundable deposit. A contract is only binding when two parties agree on on what is being represented. What I mean is that if the coach was misrepresented in any way, the deposit must be refunded. So if the coach did not have the dome satellite installed, you have the option to immediately require refund. Not saying you should, but you can not be forced into a purchase. This is what is known as duress or coercion and the contract is not binding.
Probably too late now, but just felt one needs to point out, that one is not be forced to continue a contract where one party is being dishonest. If something is being misrepresented, your obligation is done.
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duress_%28contract_law%29 for more info. There are probably better legal sources, but Wikipedia was the quickest I could find.
