What is everyone using to wash their EPDM rubber roof? I have been using Spic n Span but looking for something that will clean more effectively without damaging the compound.

The last time I washed my rubber roof was four years ago. I washed my roofs regularly for six years and finally I said I'm not getting up there anymore. I was concerned that I would get a lot of black streaks by not washing it, but I was surprised. Now I get almost no streaking. Your rubber roof is as sturdy as your house roof so I don't wash it either. It really doesn't need to be washed.

I have the same roof and have done a lot of research on what to use. Spic and Span seems to be about the strongest stuff recommended. I mix it quite strong.

Since I keep a nice wax coat on the TT I don't want anything to strip off the wax - and any soap - be it dishwashing detergent or spic and span will strip the wax coat off a TT.

Therefore, I've found that by using car wash soap that states it doesn't remove wax coats is mild enough for cleaning the roof without stripping the wax. Most car wash formulas are made to remove road tar and road grime very easy and i've found it does a good job at removing the grime from the roof when used with a brush.

We washed our rubber roof last weekend and used the "Camco Rubber Roof Cleaner". We picked it up at Camping World. It was a very good job for us.

I second the Camco Rubber Roof cleaner, works great for us and no question about it harming the roof or not. We get up there with a sponge mop. Just like mopping a floor, rinse with the hose, doesn't take very long. When we're done we wash the trailer with the wash and wax. Leaves the trailer clean and shiny top to bottom. Good luck

I just did mine with Pine cleaner that is suppose to kill mold and mildew. I'm hoping it might keep it cleaner longer.

I clean my roof once a year using a stiff brush, and then follow that with a good wax job on the trailer. I also wax it again near the end of the season.

I worry that the car wash soaps say they have a wax in them, and the directions for cleaning these roofs are specific about no petroleum products to be used on them.

I use a mixture of Spic n Span and Murphy’s Oil Soap. Seems to do a pretty good job. Dicor recommends mild dish soap like Dawn. All recommend against using anything with petroleum distillates or any citrus based products.

I do clean my roof twice yearly but I have noticed I get fewer black streaks the less I clean it...also no chaulking when it's a little dirty!

does anyone elses EPDM roof seem like it was not glued down to the underlayment? I do some roofing at work and have only installed one EPDM roof on a commercial kitchen and we used firestone rubber cement to glue it to the recomended underlayment.

On my TT the roof just seems like its got lots of large uneven bubbles. Like the company just skipped the rubber cement process.
