We have a little 18T Fleetwood Pioneer which we have only used with hook-ups. We are planning our first dry camping trip to the Smoky Mountains in May. I would like to make a screen cover for the emergency window over the bed, so we can open it, hear the river and feel/breath the cool mountain air while we sleep. I think I've figured out how to make the screen using velcro to hold it across the window. It will be real easy to remove and won't restrict exiting in an emergency. The question I have is, is it OK to use the emergency window in this way? Will it cause a problem with leaking later, or is there some other reason I should be concerned? Has anyone else tried anything like this?
I know several people who use the emergency window like you want to. I don't think it will cause any problems if you put the screen on the inside of the window.
My Jayco has a screen on each emergency window. I open them all the time. Go for it and enjoy camping

Thanks for the reassurance, I think I'll work on the screen today, since we can't go camping this week-end, at least I'll be in the camper! Anyone else have any ideas on how to make the sceen? My plan is to cut the velcro to fit around the metal window casing, secure it with the self-adhesive on the back of the velcro; cut the screen to fit, then pull the cover off the other sticky side of the velcro and secure it to the screen. I may need to glue it or hot glue it if the self-adhesive doesn't hold, but I've got industrial strength velcro. I don't want to make this project any harder than necessary!
