Had my first state ran job interview today. It went okay, but I don't know that I did all that well. If I get a call the first of the week about a second interview, then I did well, if not, oh well.
On the way home I was pulling in to have a very late lunch and my cell rang. It was a lady with the State Marine Board, would I be interested in interviewing next week for a position. Of course I would. So all hope is not lost, and now that I know how they run their panel interviews, I stand a fighting change of not sounding like an idiot.
I swear I felt like such an under achiever compared to some of them people.

I know the un-employment rate is horrible every where. Something will turn up eventurally whether with the state or some place else. I will just keep applying until I am the chosen one.

You've gained experience -- so all is not bad. BTW - I've been known to hire people with LESS experience......we had one interviewee that blew everyone away...it was a "group interview". She totally intimidated all the other applicants. We did NOT hire her even though she was more experienced and educated. The problem was - she thought she was better, projected a holier than thou attitude, and we felt she wouldn't work well with her co-workers should we hire her. So -- don't feel intimidated....you just never know!

I interviewed 6 applicants last week to fill 2 positions. Two of the 6 had experience plus but both of them had the attitude that Dshultz50 mentioned thinking they were "in like Flynn". I didn't hire either of them and went with 2 guys with absolutely zero experience that we can train to do things the way we want them done rather than having to deal with the, "I already know how so don't try to tell me anything." attitude.
Hang tough, It will happen.
When I get to heaven,
I shall see three wonders there.
The first wonder will be to see
many there whom I did not expect to see.
the second wonder will be to miss
many people who I did expect to see.
and the third and greatest of all
will be to find myself there.

I just feel like such an under achiever. There was this one girl that just droned on and on. She couldn't have been more than 30 and you would think she has been done every job in 3 or 4 of the jobs that she has worked. Some of them are working for the state already. I will just wait and see. Like I said if I get a call for a second interview, then I did okay. If not, well I have other jobs I have applied for and there is the job interview with the Marine Board.
Dee, the interviewers Linda Riddell, Sharon Domaschofsky, and Randy McKibbin. They all seemed nice enough, but I don't know.
