Yes, your rabbit ear or bat wing antenna will be fine. The box will do the digital/analog conversion and pass a nice clean signal to your TV (channel control will be done with the new box).

One thing you will find is that when you get to the store that list of 35 quickly becomes one or two.. The store I went to it was one. I'm watching it now, Very high quality picture, Though I got a bit of pixelation a bit ago. but the picture is very high quality. I've set two shows to record off the Converter tonight

Problem is,,, I can not (yet) control the box with the recorder (This too will happen later on)

I would look only at the brands that have the astrix beside them on the list. However, if you wind up with one that does not pass analog, it's an easy get-around, I'm doing it now.

Yep, I bought two at Wal*Mart today with my rebate cards. They only had the RCA 800 in stock. Haven't even gotten home with them since I had to come to work first. I was a little disappointed to see that they require 110 V power but I can see the need. Cost was 49.97 + tax each. Now I need four more, two for the MH and two more in the stick house.

I orderd my rebate cards way back when you could firstr order them, got them on 3-25. Problem was the cards were dated from 3-03 so somewhere they sat for a 15 days or so before being sent.

Has anyone determined if any of the converters have an external wall-wart power supply and the power connection could be replaced that would allow you to power it directly from 12 volts instead?

I suppose you could get a cheap couple hundred watt inverter to power it if you really wanted to.

If you have a old TV connected to cable without a box you still need a converter.
