We're heading east in May-June in our Roadtrek. We have a reservation for one night at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. We'll stay over in Mackinaw City one night beforehand and one night after. Any campground suggestions/preferences?
Thanks,

Sorry, no help. But if you do go on the island, Joann's has fudge to die for. Best I've ever had (don't let my mom hear that though).

Mill Creek is directly cross the lake from the Grand. The fhu sits are a bit narrow but there are others if you do not require FHU that are right on the lake.

Mill Creek at the south side of the Bridge. If your coming across on 2 the Fair Grounds in Escanaba has a nice camp ground to spend a night at. Sault St Marie has two nice camp grounds by the locks. You could spend two weeks in the U.P. along just going to different camp ground and casinos. Below the bridge you have hundreds of camp ground and casinos all the way down the state to the southern boarder.

Tee Pee Campground right outside of Mackinaw City is another alternative. http://www.teepeecampground.com/index.htm. I prefer Tee Pee over Mill Creek because it has a nicer view of the Mackinaw bridge and has a nicer, sandy beach at the lake.

Go with Tee Pee over Mill Creek, smaller , cheaper, much better run and a better view.

We always preferred Wilderness State Park with a site on the beach of Lake Michigan. Park is eight miles east of Mackinaw City. It's an easy drive between park and Mackinaw City.

We have enjoyed the State Campground on the North side of the bridge near St. Ignace, “The Straits State Park” and recommend this location. If you select a site in the lower portion of this campground you will have a great view of the Mackinaw Bridge. You will find ample parking in St. Ignace to catch a ferry to Mackinaw Island.

We also recommend the Wilderness State Park just west of the bridge. You can find additional information at the following link for all the State Parks in Michigan - http://www.midnrreservations.com

We took delivery of our 2007 RT 210P last May and have traveled to several of the State Parks in Michigan last summer. We find that the State Parks are very well maintained and affordable.

Enjoy your trip and travel safe.
