I just ordered one of these units.

The reviews on it are VERY GOOD. Supposedly, it is crystal clear even in a convertible with the top down.

The only time I every need or use a hands free device is when driving and even then it is very infrequent. However, using a cell phone without a hands free device s illegal in New Jersey (a VERY good law). Strapping a wired or bluetooth (with limited battery life) earpiece to my ear just in case I MIGHT get a call (maybe once in every five trips in the truck) is a pain (so I don't end up do it). This looks like the idea solution.

Is anyone using one of these? Any comments on it?

Why not just use the speakerphone feature available on most cellphones? I have a Motorola $50.00 phone that has speakerphone on it and it works very well. Just open the lid and leave it on the console and talk away?
Or many use the bluetooth earpiece that seems to work for them. About $35.00.

TWO CENTS WORTH
The story goes that a man died and was approached by the Devil who told him that he could buy his soul back for a dollar. The man searched his pockets and could only come up with 98 cent. While begging the Devil to forget the two cent he was short, an Angel happened by and hearing the Devil laughing, asked the man, "Would you mind if I put in my two cents ?" The Devil got so mad that he exploded in a puff of smoke and the man's soul was saved.
The moral: Sometimes putting in your two cents worth makes a difference.

I have yet to see a built in speakerphone that will work well in a quiet room, let along in a truck traveling at highway speed. Though the phone that I just got does have a halfway decent one (for a quitet room).

The problem though is that even if you can hear the caller through your phone's speakerphone, the person on the other end is subject to a cacaphony of road noise from the over-sensitive mic on your phone. The Supertooth mic is supposed to have excellect noise cancelling electronics in it (similar to the Bose headphones) which is one of it's biggest selling points. The person on the other end actually thinks you are on a wired phone in a quiet room.

And again, as I said above, I am NOT one of those people who babbles incessantly on the cell phone (there are a few of use out there), so the aggravation on constantly strapping a bluetooth earpiece on and always keeping it charged in case I MIGHT get a call is more trouble than it's worth.

All I know is that I have yet to read a single "it sucks" reveiw from a user. The Australian company that makes it can barely meet the demand and it is backordered everywhere. I figures if such a device really does perform as well as everyone claims, then it would be of interest to the RV community who is always on the road.

I'll be heading cross country in a couple of weeks, so I'll be posting my own results when I get back (If I actually get a call during the trip ).

I've been looking at the Blueant Supertooth II. Folks on this board who own one have raved about it. eBay has had some pretty good deals. Right now the only ones I see posted are Aussie. Good luck.

Whew, lost this topic for a while and just dug it up again.

Just wanted to report that I have been using my BlueAnt Supertooth for a while and it is everything that the reviews say it is!

People on the other end say they can hear me CRYSTAL CLEAR (can't even tell it's a speaker phone), and the sound quality and volumes is very good on my end too.

I occasionally have a problem getting the bluetooth to connect but I think it is an issue with my phone and not the speakerphone (rebooting the phone helps).

All in all, I am please with the unit and would recommend it to everyone.
