Cool...Thanks.....So a gallon of propane contains roughy 90,000 BTU's and a 30 lb tank holds roughly 7 gallons...or 630,000 BTU's and would therefore run the pilot light for 1260 hours, or 52 days. Now my Wife can stop worrying that leaving the pilot on for a week will drain our tanks.

Just read the pilot light article again and noticed it is for full sized household ovens. Wonder if our little magic chef uses less ?

IMO most pilots lights are about the same. I do know that that in our earlier days, we had an gas oven in the house and a gas oven in our class C, both lights were the same. You can adjust the flame on some. Just make sure you don't get it too low or it may go out.

What?? There is a pilot lite on the oven? I thought the piezo-electric click-click-click was all about no pilot lite. The only pilot lite I want to see is the furnace. At home I have a gas stovetop, oven, clothes dryer, water heater and furnace, The only pilot lite is on the hot water heater. All the rest use clickers or glow coils to ignite the gas.
Dang, I'm gonna go check.
Fun is that stuff that happens in between mistakes.

Glen41,
The range top uses the piezo, the oven you have to light by hand, don't ask me why but that's how it is set up.

Naturally, it depends on which oven/range you have. Mine requires a match or lighter for the burners but the oven has a pilot light. My furnace and water heater have the electronic starters. Your manual should steer you in the right direction.
Good luck!
