We're considering changing from a TT to a 5th but we have never pulled a 5th, so we don't know the difference in the ride/pull. Share your opinions please. The difference between pulling a 5th and a TT is like.....

In my opinion way easier to pull fifth than bumper. you don't see semi's pulling bumper trailers now do you. Handel better, better weight distribution not so much of the tail wagging the dog.

is like.....the difference between driving a Chevette or a Corvette. The amount of sway you have from a TT is incredible compared to a 5th wheel, air from semi's doesn't affect you nearly as much and it's way easier to back it up.

With a 5er you don't even know it is there. Well almost.

It is a well known fact that 5ers have a great straightline feel on the highway. Where they fall short is in emergency avoidance maneuvers. The high pin point (high centre of gravity) is the negative and limits the maneuver especially on a rough road.

For years we towed a 23' Airstream with a Nissan Mini Van. Used a reese dual cam. We did the old straightline test by driving the rig down the highway and releasing the hands from the steering wheel. Many tines the rig would go 14 to 15 sec before it drifted out of it's lane. Amazingly, once it went 59 sec. With a Hensley hitch I believe it could be even better.
