Has anyone tried the new version of the BB Vantage Select yet. I just ordered one last week. Hope the communication problem between toad and MH have been fixed. If anyone else knows, please let me know.
Will report on it after I receive it.

My conversations with owners is that it probably never will be. To many variables such as distance, construction material in car and motor home, and angles of pull.

To get mine to function I put the transmitter out the door and placed under the hood. Hanging from mirror or laying on dash didn't work. It's still intermittent
even after reprogramming transmitter and receiver. Steve

HERE'S THE UPDATE
Installed breakaway in truck. No problems there. Found a good hole in firewall with rubber plug I was able to make a hole in and pass wire thru.
Hooked up everything and tested. Everything worked good. Hooked up to MH and took ride. Seemed to work perfect. On this newer version, you can adjust the sensitivity an the change from full to proportional from inside of the motorhome with the remote. Everything seemed to work great. Played around with the sensitivity and found that set at 3 gave me good braking action about 1 second after pushing brake pedal on a semi hard stop. No brake action on a slow normal stop from 50 MPH.
I was concerned with all the bad reports on the vantage unit before this one and the remote not working from the MH. This unit does not come with a separate transmitter like the other ones. But tried the remote from several places around the cab. Passenger we moving it all around and holding it under the seat and we could not find any place to put it that it didn't work. We tested it every way we could think of and it worked every time. We were only on the road for about 45 minutes so will have to wait and see if it has problems later on a long trip.
So for now, I'm very pleased with it.

It appears from reading this that you have set it up in fixed mode. Have you tried the proportional setting and if so, how did it work?
I am trying to make up my mind on this or something like US Gear's ssytem.

I have it in the proportional setting. I haven't tried the full. This is the first brake control I have used, so I was not sure why I would even want it to operate in full mode. That was a question I was planning to ask here and hadn't gotten around to it. The only time I think it will operate in full mode when it's set in proportional is when you get a breakaway condition. Other than that I don't understand why I would want it to push on the brakes that hard.
If someone would explain this, it would help me.
Thanks

Thanks for the posting. I am also trying to make up my mind on which system to get. I have narrowed it down to either the Brake Buddy Classic or the Vantage. If you don't mind my asking.....who did you order yours from and were you happy with the order process? How long did it take to install the break away? Were the instructions detailed enough?
Thanks for the great info!

I bought mine from KC Trailer Service. Here a Link to their e-bay store.
I purchased my tow bar and brackets from them a while back and both times the service and delivery were great. Also the best price I could find. We e-mailed back and forth a couple of times and I called them with questions and they were very helpful. Got everything I was promised.
The Select model I have is the newest one. It gives you control from the MH on the sensitivity and on Full or Proportional Braking. So far I have had no trouble with the communication with the remote and the unit in toed. So it seems that they got the problem fixed from the last version.
The break away kit is simple to install. The hardest part is finding a way thru the fire wall and finding a good location to mount the switch. I was able to mount it on the bottom of a bracket I had made before to mount the 6 wire plug I had installed. So my plug and breakaway are in the same place when I hook every thing up.

I just checked prices at PPL & KC Supply. They both have the Brake Buddy Vantage Select for sale. KC's price is about $ 30 less. Make sure you get the Vantage Select model not just the Vantage. I have been reading a lot of post about the Vantage having a problem with communication with the remote and the unit. Plus the Vantage does not have the control from the MH like the Select Version.
If I can help any more, just ask.
On edit, just realized that PPL doesn't have freight, But with freight I paid the same as PPL's Price.
