I never have removed ANYTHING when taking my trailer in for service. I've only had to take it in once in the last 5 years of ownership on two trailers but I only deal with dealers I know I can trust. If I ever DID have anything stolen I'd not take it back to them AND file a complaint with the dealer.

Our new(at the time) 2006 Bounder was in the shop for about a month at CW. Like you, I trusted them to safe guard my property. Mistake #1,I did not check before we left the repair facility. When we got home, I noticed that one of the remote controls for TV's was missing. Looking further, I found that the sink stoppers were all missing, two of the fancy valve stem caps were missing. The cutting board was AWOL. All of the storage bays had been opened and were still open. ( I had made sure they were locked when we left the rig with them ). The warranty work had nothing to do with anything that was in the storage bays so they had no business opening them. All this was my fault, but I know better now. I have had the rig in for warranty work several times since then and always locked the bays. Each and every time, when I picked up the rig, The bays were un locked.

I wouldn't be happy either if my stuff disappeared. Did you yet get back to them to say that no the stuff is not at home and was in the trailer? I know the representative said they don't remove anything but that sounds like an automatic reaction because they weren't sure what to say at the time. (I'm not saying it's right or wrong just my opinion)
But, I don't see it as likely that they replaced the vinyl floor in the storage bay without removing your gear. While it may have been stolen it's also just as likely that it's stacked in an out of the way corner and forgotten. I would definitely give them another call with as detailed a description of the gear as you can provide. If they can't come up with it after that I would start demanding they replace it.

nematon785 wrote: Funny thing is a sign that says " not responsible for missing items" is nothing more than a sign. IT IS NOT THE LAW. Just as a sign on the back of a truck that says "not responsible for damage caused by flying debris" Yet the mud flap on the left is missing. Guess what, that sign don't mean squat. It should say My business and myself can be held responsible for any negligence on my part, as well as damage to others as a result of anything I do etc... If the sign was all it took, I would buy one that says " not to be held accountable for anything" and wear it around my neck while randomly vandalizing and burning the city to the ground! Go get your stuff man!
When I see one of these signs, it tells me to take anything of personal value with me because the business is unlikely to be vigilant on my behalf. Of course the sign won't provide much muscle from a legal standpoint, but it speaks volumes about the hassle one may face trying to recover anything that ends up missing. It also serves as an indicator to a customer that there have been prior problems in this regard. I live by the "better safe than sorry" motto.

I know how you feel. I took my TT in for a fridg. replacement. I left my LCD TV on my bed (where it travels). It was there when I left and it was gone when I picked it up. I screamed my head off, and the dealership kept pointing at the sign, "Not Responsible for ....................!. I threatened to call the police and put the name of the dealership here on the net. They finally agreed to pay me what a replacement would cost. Stick to your guns and if they won't replace the stuff, Tell us all what dealership or manufacture it is.
