I'll quote myself to save the time of re-typing...

We would be in the Mount Joy and Columbia area, also the outskirts of York for a brief time and then up past Marietta a bit... so something near and in that area would be great. We prefer state parks and I know Gifford Pinchot SP is there.. but I don't think it is very convienant to where we need to be. And for an overnite.. we're willing to try a nice private campground, as I know there are several in the vicinity. Just not sure which would be nice AND yet convienant to the areas we need to be in.....

Do you have any personal experience with any in this area?? I'd appreciate any feedback.

I lived in Columbia for 2 years and the Lancaster area for 10 years. Old Mill Stream on the east side of Lancaster is about the best campground for you. There is nothing I know of in between Lanc. and York - maybe a campground by the river, but those are mostly for boating seasonals, and not real pretty.

There is also Circle M Outdoor World outside of Lancaster, I've never been there, that may be a good choice.

I would agree with Old Mill Stream but they fill up fast.

Thanks so much for the replies everyone! I appreciate the input.

Many suggested Old Mill Stream CG and I think we are going to give that one a try when we take the kids to Dutch Wonderland later this summer -- it is right next to it, right? My question with this place is about sites # 201, 202... 300, 301... 401, 500. These sites seem to be in the trees / wooded (which we like) and seem to be off by themselves -- well spaced apart, etc. Is this accurate? Or is the map off scale? I might try to get one of these sites, since they seem to be the closest to what we like in a campsite. Any input on this place.. and these sites??

Thanks Again!!

The map is not to scale the sites are not wooded in between them. You can see almost all the way across the campground when there are not alot af units there. But it is still a nice place.
