I have a friend that just purchased the 40ft model. They just returned from a trip to FL and found only a couple things he wishes he could change. The biggest is that he only has one switch that sends or retracts the three slides. In order to access the fridge, he needs to extend the kitchen slide which in turn sends them all out. He found he needed to be careful when taking breaks in reststops and parking lots.

Is this common with most 5ers? Has anyone had theirs changed to independent switches?

Evidently, the slides are hydraulic. With additonal manifolds or valving, you can make each slide operate seperate from one another. It will take addional plumbing, but can be done. As far as a slide blocking the refrigerator, that happened to me once and the next couple of 5er's I purchased with slides had a floorplan that, no matter what, the refrigerator was not "blocked in" by a slide. I guess you could put the slide that is blocking you from the frige on an isolated circuit to where you could open and close it, and it alone
whenever you needed to get into the kitchen.

Our Keystone Everest is the same way but we have a hydraulic manifold in the battery compartment that can be used to open any of the slides independently. So when we need to get into the fridge we close the valves to the other slides and open just the fridge slide. Hope this helps.

This is common for RV's that have one touch / hydraulic slides. The smaller, lighter slide moves first and when it reaches its movement limit, the pressure moves the next lightest slide. My Fuzion 362 has two slides, bedroom and living room. The smaller bedroom slide is the first to move in or out. It can be changed as mentioned in the other replies. Anything is possible if you can afford it.
