I've listed a hitch to sell online. Here is an email I just received. Looks like a scam to me.

For those who do not know, you NEVER need to give your
PayPal account number to a buyer. EBay and PayPal handle the transfer automatically and safely for you.

I tried selling some tires online once for 300 and the guy offered me 1500 to have his guy ship the overseas and I could have what was left over. That was 3 years ago or more.

The Nigerian scam is probably older than the internet. I recall a friend who had a small business getting a typed letter in the mail with the scam.

I may be cynical but I suspect the money in the Nigerian scam is in selling the internet services to some dupe who really hopes someone would send an account number; at least, it pleases me to believe that!

Ya, they scan the local trader ads and such.. I put a cycle on Craigslist and got 3-4 scams a day......
