Anyone from Florida set up an LLC in Montana to register a motorhome? If so which attorney or service did you use.

(John) Bennett Law firm in Missoula is a very popular one. Do a Google search.

For one thing - lack of sales tax. In many states that can amount to $12,000 to $15,000 on a $250,000 RV depending on the price of the RV and the rate of sales tax.

Ok, then what would be the negatives, like how would the state of Florida like it? There must be some sort of restriction that prevents people from doing this or everyone would be driving around with Montana plates...

There is one restriction. It's called fear. The LLC is perfectly legal look at u-haul and other companies. Look at every ocean liner they do the same thing except they use other countries. Wait you're about to see a lot of negative posts here from people that knows someone that knew someone that their uncles sister's cousin got in trouble and they confiscated their rig and put them in jail and even put their dog in the pound.

If the LLC is formed to keep from paying legal taxes then the LLC is probably not legal. Lots of states are looking into it. CA says that if you have a vehicle owned by an LLC (Limited Liability COMPANY) then it's a commercial vehicle and fines you if you don't have the correct fuel tax stickers. That was reported on the forum here. WA is also TAKING A loooong, hard look to see if they can go after the LLC owners for tax evasion on the grounds that the LLC was formed to avoid taxes.

I wrote the AG's office requesting info on LLC's being formed to avoid taxes, haven't received an answer yet other than it was passed on the Dept. of Revenue as they administer taxes. Silly me, I thought the legal beagles would handle it and could quote me the laws!

I don't see any mention of them being an attorney plus they are more expensive than Bennett law firm. They don't say anything about researching your states laws to see if it is legal.
