"As part of our working relationship, all Jayco dealers have agreed to perform warranty work on Jayco products regardless of where the RV was purchased. Most dealers will do so; but many will give first priority to their own customers and other Jayco customers who are traveling."
And yes, I am aware that this page supports the notion of buying from your local dealer... a notion which as I mentioned before I generally support, and one I usually act upon. But not at the expense of several thousand dollars...

austin, dealers are not "obligated" to perform warranty service even on units they sell, it's a service they offer to there customers. there not like chev,ford,dodge...
I under stand that your really happy with your purchase and your new toy, but here latly this sight has been pounded by posts like this, mostly by first time posters and only boasting the internet dealers, there was a post about buying from a small dealer or large dealer ( its a few pages back ) and with all the post on there i dont recall any or many stating anything about the internet dealers and thats another reason it gets hard to swallow when we see post like yours. I dont want to say what your doing is wrong, but it's a good thing you have thick skin. Its kind of like hearing a young kid repeat the same thing over and over till the parant explodes and tells the kid to s##t up
so on your next post lets here about you first time out in your new camper, did you get the new elect. awning ? would love to here your good and bad coments on that, have any tire issues? on your trip home, whats your first upgrade, elct jack? thats a must.
have you check to see if your local dealer will work on it? some do most wont let us know
that's nice,,,,, but I hope you checked first to see if your local dealer falls in the """" Most dealers will do so"""" category or you have a good tool box

Yeah, I'm confused Jayco. It looks as though they are contradicting themselves from one sentence to the next. Anyone want to call and inquire?

Good thing you got a Jayco and not a Forest River. This is what Forest River web site says :::::: "Forest River, Inc. strongly encourages our retail customers to purchase from their local dealership whenever possible due to the following factors:
Our Dealers are as a rule, independently owned and operated businesses. Outside of those customers they personally sold products to, they are not contractually obligated to perform warranty service on Forest River products that were purchased elsewhere. There may be an occasion that you would be required to return to the point of purchase to satisfy warranty requirements.
Although many dealerships will eventually service products not purchased at their place of business, they will usually take care of their customers and other Forest River customers who are traveling away from their local dealer as they would their own.
Local purchases allow a customer to establish a relationship with a dealer close to home. This relationship provides the customer with a convenient location for service and support from a "home town" professional.
The opportunity for a thorough PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection) and product orientation is an additional benefit of buying from your local dealer. Further providing the opportunity for refresher courses or the ability to get questions answered much more conveniently.
For our Canadian customers, there are also requirements which must be met to bring an RV purchased out of the country to their home. Although not insurmountable, these requirements may involve such things as additional inspections and certifications, taxes and fees. Your local Canadian Dealer is a professional at meeting these requirements.
Forest River's goal is for all RV Owners to fully enjoy their RV experience. In light of this goal, and considering the advantages of buying local, we encourage you to be thorough when determining what product to purchase and which dealer to purchase it from as both are key to your ultimate satisfaction and the realization of your dreams."
After speaking with Jayco, that sentence was added for situations just as this. If you go somewhere else other than your local dealer to buy the trailer and then take it to your local dealer for warranty work, they aren't guaranteeing that you'll be a priority customer. But they WILL fix it eventually.
On a side note, Jayco also says that if you aren't satisfied with the local dealer's time frame you can contact an independent RV repair specialist, a garage or mobile facility that does not sell RVs, and have the repairs done by them. Just make sure they contact Jayco before doing any repairs to get the authorization.
OK, What would you do? Bought a new Jayco through my local dealer, $19500 his list, offered $15500, he said OK. My first trailer and so like many others I realized it is great but too small. Had a few issues with leaks in the toilet, a replacement ceramic model, and black tank rinse which the dealer had installed before I picked up the trailer. While it was in the shop (4 weeks, because they were working on out of town motorhomes, even though I bought it there) I inquired about a trade. The dealer offered me $10200 on mine (8 weeks old) and would sell me the new one I wanted for $26000 (his list, no discount). When I picked up my old trailer from service they wanted me to pay because the Tornado and Toilet were not covered by the Jayco warranty since I had them changed out by them. The defects were a missing gasket and a pinched gasket. After much not so pleasant banter, they waived the charges. I went home and called RVDirect and they quoted me a price of $17155 on the trailer I want. Will cost $1000 to go get it, but will work that in with trip we wanted to go on anyway. What would you do???
Second, I'd tell the dealer that wanted to give you $12200 for yours and charge you full retail on the new one to go pound sand. If he's going to give you wholesale for your trailer then he better sell you the new one at normal selling price. If he's willing to give you full NADA value then the full retail price is still high but at least in line with what hes willing to give you for yours.
