I did tell him to go pound sand. You can see my change to $10200 trade in, I missed typed. He has since called me and offered the new trailer at $22000 without trade and I repeated the pound sand quote. Some of us just have lousy dealers. RVDirect does not take trades. The $17155 quote is outright. I already have an offer off craigslist for my old trailer at $13000, and more are coming in. I am going to go to a local independent RV repair shop for my warranty work from now on even though I will stay with Jayco's. The lousy service was the deal killer anyway.

If you can stomach a $2500 hit on the one you have now, then the RVD way seems like your best option, in my opinion.
You could possibly try a different Jayco dealer and explain the situation you're in to see if they can come closer to the RVD price and your outright selling price from craigslist.

Actually they were open starting March 1st this year due to Woodall's and Trailer Life's listings. Next year they will follow the April 1st opening like the KOA site states.
I'm sure sircampalot (lol) will have a good response to this.

I am glad you had a good experience with RVdirect..
I might use them when I upgrade...
I cannot figure out why you guys keep fighting the side of RVdirect when you cannot win this battle.
make your claim and leave it alone... these guys are idiots.

If this thread keeps running downhill, then yes. End of story.
Les has already warned everyone once. This is twice. Keep the posts on topic, and knock off the flaming.
Thanks

Loopy ... thanks for being the "voiced of reason" in this whole issue.
I am a charter life member of the Good Sam's club ... and was active on the fledgling Good Sam's website under a long-forgotten name and password using an dial-up email address ... until I helped start a website dedicated to the specific brand of trailer I was pulling at the time.
I met with similar hostility when I posted my experiences picking up my new Jayco from RV Direct a couple of weeks ago.
Strange.
Some put way too much value on "local service." This is my fourth trailer. My wife and I are on the road for months at a time ... Having a local dealer (50/50 chance of being a good dealer) means little when I'm 1000's of miles away.
I put a lot more emphasis on RV DIRECT's 800 service line ... and Jayco's 800 service line ... to help when when and if I'm in a jam.
But I'm shocked that some think you need to go running back to a dealer to fix a water pump problem.
Good grief.
You'd think trailers are built and serviced by rocket scientists.
There's no engine. There's no transmission. That's why I buy travel trailers instead of Class A, B and C's.
I also chuckle at those who say "if I were a local dealer, I wouldn't service RV's bought from ...." In the RV business, there are THREE separate PROFIT centers in the business ... SALES, PARTS and SERVICE.
Of those, the most profitable is the SERVICE business. Some pay $100s of dollars to fix something anybody with half a brain and a screwdriver could fix themselves.
Now granted, most RV dealer service areas are over-worked and under-staffed. But, ... the progressive dealership is going to expand his facilities and hire more people ... why?
To make more money!
It might surprize some of you to hear that RV DIRECT is an RV dealer ... not the devil some of you make them out to be.
They own THREE RV dealerships and are looking to purchase more to service other areas of the US and Canada.
They are expanding.
They are being progressive.
And when you're running down I-80 through Iowa, and you have a problem ... and pull off the expressway ... guess which dealership you are going to stop at for help.
That's right ... RV Direct's Des Moines RV ... who understand the importance of giving people a fair price.
I doubt I'm ever going to make "senior member" status here.
I didn't realize this was such a "good old boys" club.
Especially since, as I said, I was part of this group when it first started.
