We have had a Central Vac in our last 3 5th wheels. DW likes the ability to just plug up the hose and it reaches from one end to the other. We also have the sweep pan where you just sweep the trash to it and it takes is away. Also has a connection in the basement so you can use it to VAC the Truck. Didn't know it added $300.00 dollars to the cost? But we like the option. GBY....

We have a central vac in our new coach and we haven't been all that happy with it. Main reason is the unit did not come with a rotating head of any kind. The suction is awesome but the absolute cheapest floor size rotating head that I could find was another $170 plus shipping. I also didn't like the loud slapping sound the hose made on the floor when using it. Also make sure if your unit will be suction driven or electric. On ours there is no way to plug in an electric powered head because it is suction driven only.

We went ahead a purchased an upright to use because it was recommended by Consumer Reports especially for pet hair on carpets. It is working very well.

By the way, our central vac is a Eureka Yellow Jacket.

The Dirt Devil CV950 LE comes with a vacuum operated rotating Rug Rat attachment. It is only 6" wide, This is not a problem in our 34' Class C. May be a problem in a larger size RV though. Is see CW has it for $199 internet only sale right now.

Our 5th wheel came with the central vac but I have never used it. Guess I should try it out. I have an Oreck that I use. It is very light weight and we have soooooooooo much cupboard space in our 5ver that it was not a problem to carry it on board. We also travel with 4 dogs and I vaccuum every morning in the trailer. Think I will try out the central vac this weekend.

Our Montana came with central vac system and I love it. It is a Dometic. I could probably live without it but since it came with our 5'er when we bought it I guess I should use it. It came with all kinds of attachments so that I may run the vac over the furniture, curtains, etc.

when DW and I were planning to order fiver she said did not want central vacuum. Wound up buying stock unit with Dometic unit already installed. Would have to pry it from her cold dead fingers!

We have one and the hose is in storage. It is too long and takes up to much space. I was told it goes, so it went. I used it a couple of times and to be honest didn't like it for the reasons, stated above. DW says it was hard for her to use, but that is because she doesn't like to dance over the hose. Also the storage issue. She didn't like the suction either. We use an upright and it works good enough.

Central Vacs are a lot like a Dyson. They don't suck.
I keep an old beat up rebuilt upright in the corner of the closet and it works much better than any central system.
Bought it at a gargae sale for $20, spent another thirty replacing the beater bar and cord and it's good to go.

We have the Dirt Devil and love it. The best part is the dust pan it just makes it all go away. I also like the extra port in the underbelly, I can reach the TV when it needs a little work.
