I have a question along these lines. I was told by some one that the reason for the outrageous price of diesel was because the manufacturers are sending a large portion to Europe where they can get even higher prices for it. Can anyone out there verify this?

I recently read an article on it Not the article I recently read but another which explains it. It is called "Splash and Dash" this article is talking about Bio-Fuel but it works for all kinds of fuel.

The good news is... The article I linked to.

Did you hear the answer when that senator asked them all.." Since your making 128 billion a year in profit...and the cost of gasoline is so high its hurting many....have you ever though of maybe reducing the price of gasoline"...?

The answer was....NADA...NO ONE even uttered a single word

We are shooting ourselves in the foot with oil speculation. Pension funds & big investment are the ones in oil speculation, using our money to dreive up our costs. Oil does need to come off the commodity market, & maybe the oil companies should be controled like the utility companies. You can also take for granted that we do export heating oil & diesel fuel. That helps them cry shortage.

Yes, I agree! Congress shouldn't be wasting their time berating the oil execs. Start regulating the commodities market before these greedy groups destroy our country.

It did not work then and it will not work now. Just drive the price of everything from Milk to steaks up.
There is a report out indicating the break down for each gallon of gas sold.
Gas Station around 5 cents, Fed/State Gov. 40 cents ( For Road Improvement??),Mfg (OIL Co) about 23 cents and the one who gets it from the ground the rest.
The Station Owner can't drop their price, the Mfg has extra taxes to pay on the oil, plus Corporate Taxes such as the Wind Fall Profit, Income Taxes. The GOV will definitely not lower a tax (they just add more)and the Desert Sheik sure as Hell does not give one iota about anything but his harem.

I don't know why congress would question the oil profits... don't they give special tax treatment for certain oil company operation? Just let them pay their far share of income tax and don't sweat it. 128 billion times 45% income tax goes a long way to pay for the pet programs of congress. How much tax did Shell actually pay?

I can imagine what the truckers are paying, our drive from Orlando, 967 miles, started with 1/2 tank, ended with 3/4. fuel stops, $267, $163, $140. Winnebago cancelled our trip to Canada this year because so many folks cancelled. I had projected our fuel at $6000. Told hubby to buy a big strainer. Mikey D and others have lots of oil. lol

I said years ago, When we all start driving diesels it will go to 8 bucks a gallon... Europe has controls as does most of the rest of the world. We have a greedy bunch that are under the umbrella of lawmakers.... All in the name of Free Enterprise...! There will be civil war over this if it doesn't get under control...mark my words...
