I had an estimate on having my '96 32 ft. Rexhall class A with 42K on it repainted with full body paint and painted graphics. Also, I will have new draperies with a new track installed on the windshield area, a full roof reseal and paint, a new slide topper (material replacement), the ceiling liner (carpet) re done (mastic). The estimate was 10,000 dollars....from a shop with a great reputation. Does that sound like a competitive bid?

I know that kind of work is expensive.

As a gauge as to how bad it needs a paint job string a line down along side of the MH and but 12 feet from it. Then hang 100 $100 dollar bills on the line. Look at the paint and then look at the 100 $100 dollar bills and then look at the paint again and see if having both does not look pretty good.

On our DSDP the FBP was a 7-8,000 option and that was at the factory where they did it all the time. Some good shops are in the 25,000 range for just the paint job salone.

Having just painted our slide ends I think $10K sounds reasonable (can we use "reasonable" and "RV" in the same conversation ). For our job alone I was around $400.00 in materials by the time you add in all the little items. Paint, clear coat, and buffing compound alone was around $275.00 and I have about 40 hours in this job. Multiply that by a complete motorhome and stuff adds up quickly. Having said that I think doing an entire MH might actually be easier than doing the slide ends after the fact.

It sounds reasonable to me - you are talking a lot of hours here.
