Good weather is fast approaching (okay not fast enough)and my brand new 5th wheeler has been sitting in my driveway for a few months. Wife and I are starting to load it and learn it. I'm trying to figure out the best way to store the sewer hose. I noticed some trialers have a storage area in the rear bumper. My rear bumper has caps that come off but pop riviets in the bumper prevent me from sliding anything inside it. I am considering just drilling out the pop rivets, what have others done for storage ?

That's where we store our,, although I did see a pretty cool set up using a PVC pipe secured with straps on the back bumper the other day.

Currently using our rear bumper (travel trailer)but planning on installing PVC fence post with caps under the trailer so that the house is near the drain valve. I have seen it done many times here on the forums.

When I had a bumper, I alway stored the hose in the bumper - worked fine. On this new one, there is no bumper and the previous owner mounted a length of PVC pipe forward of the wheels to store the sewer hose and I have used that.

One change I made was to drill about 12-15 1/2" holes in the bottom of that pipe to allow water to run out and let the hose dry better.

I have a piece of 6" PVC pipe with end caps slung under the rear of my TT, held to the frame with chain and turn buckles... Works great.. I can post pictures of you want..

If you have enclosed underbelly on your trailer, we build a set for my FIL who is a full timer.. Made them out of 5x5 PVC fence posts, held to the bottom of the frame rails with angle brackets... They work great as well..

Store mine in the bumper but being a fanatic abut rust I painted the inside of the bumper then got a 10' length of thin wall sewer pipe cut it to length then ripped it and inserted it into the bumper overlapping the split. Makes a good surface to keep the bumper from rusting and staining the hose with rust stains. Said I was a fanatic about rust.

You have a brand new Silver Back (a beautiful unit) that has no provision for sewer hose storage or at least what you do have is not useable.... Incredible to me that RV manufacturers can get away with this kind of nonsense.

Don't these guys test or use their products in real life camping situations? Where do they think you are going to keep your hose? Under your pillow?

Sorry for not contributing a useful suggestion to the post. I just had to rant. You should not be forced to come up with something mickey mouse on your own just to make do!!! These are all good suggestions above, but give me a break.

I carry 2 hoses. One is in the back bumper, the other is stored in PVC above the back bumper. Good luck with your new rig.

I constructed one similar to this one which someone else on the forum had made. Sewer Storage. Works great-the hose goes in and out easily and no concern about corroding the bumper.
