My 28BHS spec is like 5900 dry (yeah, w/o addons/etc...), which doesn't seem too heavy for a 28ft w/slide (28ft is the box, 32ft from ball to bumper).
I think I'd rather have something heavy where I live where the wind is sometimes ridiculous, and it's normally windy every day. The heavier weight will be better in a crosswind situation.

I have a 2007 19FS and had very minimal issues. Nothing that the dealer or manufacturer where happy to work with me on. I do agree that the trailer is on the heavy side. Great layouts and even the new one has made some small improvements that make sense. Have fun with it.

We got our 2008 Puma 27RLS in March of 2007, it was one of the first 2008's off the line. We have been very happy with ours and find it to be well manufactured in comparison so most others we looked at. It is heavy and I had read that the weights listed, on the cabinet door, were low so we had the dealer take it and weigh it before our purchase. It did weigh in several hundred pounds more than the listed weight. As you can tell from our sig we were pushing our limits as it was so we couldn't go any bigger. I think you will find Puma of very good quality.

I used to transport RVs and I also found the Pumas, I transported, to be very heavy for their class. My 1 ton would drop from 16 MPG to around 10 MPG when pulling a Puma.

we picked ours up last month and used it last weekend. It is a 26fbss..We absolutely love it. We had a blast using it. The weather was in the 20s to low 30s and we were real comfortable. Maybe a tad heavy but it does carry more then the jayco of the same size and floor plan. We tow with a 3500 dodge ram diesel so we did not really care about weight but even still I don't think it is that excessive....I would recommend a Puma....We also had a Puma pop up and liked it also...i get about 15mpg towing...

We purchased a 2008 BHS in Sept of 2007 and got to use a few times last year and love it. It has alot of space for storage and fits our family great. There are 4 in the family myself, wife, teenage son, and a teenage daughter and everybody is happy with it. As far as pulling heavy I never notice it. We pulled it from Iowa (12 hour trip)with our 2004 Chevy 1/2ton crewcab pickup with the 5.3 (5300 vortex) with no problem at all. The only thing I'm not fond of is the 20# LP tanks just wish they were 30# like our camper before.

I thought I would need the 30s, but I used to go camping with my parents and they have NEVER ran out on a 2 week straight trip, most of the times they don't even go through one so I opted out of the $100 for the 30s.
ndrandyman, I'm very satisfied with my 08 BHS we just pulled home this past weekend.
I have a 99 1/2 ton, ext cab with 4.8L and the 3.73's so a similar setup and it pulled just fine like yours, I also got my in Iowa and I'd make a guess you got it at Cheyenne Camping Center.
That's quite a smooth operating outfit!
Enjoy your Puma as will we!
Sure lots of Puma's popping up.
