Ok, all this tire talk has me a little nervous. Just bought my Keystone Sprinter with mission tires. Are they junk or what? Without the specs right in front of me the trailer weighs around 8400 dry, and I think you can load it up to around 11000 or so. Will I be alright with the missions for this season? Most of our trips are 15 miles from home, and the furthest this year will probably 100 miles. Help me out on this please. And one more thing. Why do they put tires on with a load rating that don't match up to the wieght of a loaded trailer?

Might check with Discount Tire for Maxxis. They ordered ST205/75R15's in for me for $88 (plus tax for governor so he can go to Hawaii) mounted and balanced with new metal valve stems.

I checked the Discount Tire website. They don't carry my size.

Call Americas tire and have them special order them.

They will order whatever you want, that's how I got my Maxxis.

My Duro ST205/75D 14's 6PR(bias ply) and 14" steel rims on a single axel, rated @1760 @50psi, were worn out @6K with outside ribs almost bald (to much weight for the tire). My GVRW is only 3800# and I am usualy at 100% tire/wheel rating!!. After many hours of research on this fine site and others on the web I concluded ST ('Special Trailer') trailer tire, both Bias (still unregulated)and radial, design reguardless of country of origin (few if any are made in USA anymore) were "Bad News" for me. LT (light truck) rated tires and 15" wheels was my new standard. My wheel well and tire size offered me very few options for an upgrade. Here is a list of tires and wheels I considered on my quest.

Tires:
Maxxis LT UE-168 215/70R15C 8PR 2271#@65 China
http://www.unsertire.com/ $93.21ea FREE SHIPPING US

Continental Vanco 8 215/70R15 2271#@65 Czech Republic
http://www.unsertire.com/ $123.31ea FREE SHIPPING US

These tires were available in 14”
Hankook RA08
Cooper SRM II
KHUMO 857's
Michelin Agilis 61
Bridgestone Dueler A/T
Bridgestone RD-603
VREDESTEIN TRANSPORT STEEL RIB T/L

Wheels:
HiSpec® Wheel & Tire
http://hispecwheel.com/index.html

Series04-15x6 2150 lbs @ 80PSI 0mm offset China
http://www.performancewheel.com $79.00ea w/o center caps

Lug Nuts:
McGard MCG-64000 - Cone / 64010 - Bulge,: Lug Nuts, Conical Seat, 1/2 in. x 20 RH, Closed End, Chrome Plated
PepBoys.com $7.99set4

I ended up with the set of Maxxis LT UE-168 215/70R15C and HiSpec 15" Wheels, mount and balanced @ Discount Tire, with McGard MCG-64000 lug nuts.
This combination offers me a D rated (8pr) tire and 4300# wheels to hold them. Exceeding my GVWR by 500# respectively. Much more comforting to know.

Conclusion:
Just got back from a 3850mi trip through the Southwest and the tire/wheel combination performed better than I expected and the tires still look brand new!! No more outside rib ware! All good news for me and a new level of safety for my family.

Happy RVing!!

My TT came with the Maxxis ST's. We put over 5,000 miles on them in a year and they hardly seem worn. So far, so good.
