Assuming that both trailers do have the EXACT same floor plans, it boils down to how the units are constructed and where the axles are mounted in relation to the pin and if one rig has an extended pin or not.

Pin weight affects the suspension of the truck.
Combined Gross Weight (the weight of the truck and the trailer) affects the trucks power train. (Engine, Transmission, etc)

So Cool Canuck, have you weighed your rig? I have the same truck, except 4x4, long bed, and if I follow the rules, I am going over my max pin with most nice 30' range 5th's.

If I remember correctly when I got weighed that I had about 1600lb capacity with full load of fuel and me.

My pin weighs around 1,400 lbs. Ready to go, the truck weighs 4,400 front and 4,400 back. It wouldn't bother me to put another 1,000 lbs on the pin.

True pin weight is generally considered to be 20% of the fivers GVWR. So based on the (laugh here) "dry weight" I would estimate that either of the mentioned trailers will have a GVWR of 8000 to 9000 pounds. That puts the pin weight squarely in the 1800 pound range. Now, depending on which motor and which rear end gear ratio the intended truck has by adding heavier duty tires and air bags the OP might be OK on flat ground. But from the experiences I have had with loading my company 1/2 ton truck up with about 700 pounds and trying to go up and down hills he will not be very happy with the combination no matter which trailer he chooses.
