We want to explore the area north and west of Greenville. I'd like to stop for a couple days around the junction of Hwys 11 and 276. I see there are several state parks in that area, but are they suitable for a 40' MH? Also, I want to drive Hwy 11 down to Walhalla. How is the road there? And where is a good place to park in that area?
Some of the state parks in that area will accomodate a 40' MH. When you view the sites on http://www.southcarolinaparks.com/ the size is noted and from my experience they are very accurate. So you should be ok.
I am not sure about the road conditions of Hwy 11 so I will not comment.

I live in Greenville and camp in that area regularly. Not sure what parks will accomodate a 40' MH, as we camp in an 8-foot popup, but the website is accurate in their listings. I think you can get into Table Rock, but only the lower campground, not the White Oak area. Keowee-Toxaway SP has a very small campground, not sure about there.
Highway 11 is a VERY NICE, wide, two-lane road that is well kept up. There are tons of places around Walhalla on either Lake Hartwell or Lake Keowee. There are several Army Corps of Engineer campgrounds, Oconee State Park is not far from there IIRC, and there are tons of private and county campgrounds too.
Oconee SP is very nice. We stayed there last fall. They have a lot of spots that will handle your RV. Try the Mountain Rest cafe for breakfast at least.
Jocassee SP is also nice. However, when we were there last fall the lake ws almost non-existent. Looked like it was down 30 feet or more.
Have fun the whole area is very nice.

As above hi way 11 is a sceinic high way and a pleasant drive from I-85 just across the GA SC line to Spartain burg SC where It merges again with I-85
There are a lot of good camp grounds around that area. The only problem you will have is you better go on line and get your sites now. I go up that way almost every other week in the summer and the campgrounds fill up fast and have almost no sites you can get with out reservations. Also check out the core of engineer parks they have alot in that area.

Sparker1, I live about 30 minutes or so form the Seneca\Walhalla area. Try Crooked Creek RV Park in West Union SC. Its only about a 5/10 minute ride from Walhalla. They have F/H and will be able to accommodate your rig. We'll be there next week. You should have no problems down to Walhalla on Hwy 11. You also might want to ride up to Stumphouse tunnel above Walhalla. As wele stated, the COE parks are great, but they don't open until May 1 around here. There's a about 3 COE parks all within about 45 minutes of Walhalla on Lake Hartwell. Hope all this helps.
