I have 7300 miles on the truck. Last Sunday I was returning from an errand about 30 miles from home and decided I would recheck the MPG for Fwy driving. I figured I had enough milage on the truck to be broken in. I set the indicator to 0 and drove with a very slow and steady pedal (definitely not my usual). Speed varied between 60-70mph. When I pulled off the Fwy the gauge read 18.7mpg (usually I would get about 14.4mpg). I was amazed at the difference in performance I got by changing the way I drove the truck. Since I use the truck for my regular ride, this should help. Just sharing.

Mine is gas and I get over 20 MPG all the time on the Fwy. and 17 in town. I don't have any smoke, smell, or shake, or wet feet. And my fuel cost 20 per cent less.

My '05 with the 6.0 really started improving on my Disney trip lastyear at about 28,000 miles. Ihink I was up to about 13 towing on the way home. My best empty was 20 when near new, but I hardly ever take it on a long trip without the FW. And my gity milage is lousy since work is 2.5 miles away, and about 12 traffic lights.

Mine averages around 12 empty and 9 to 10 towing. Best I've seen on the computer has been 15 and that didn't last long (till I reached the bottom of the hill).

That 2000 rpm is the secrete on my truck. Hwy speed needs to be about 68 mph and it will get me around 18 mpg but drops to 16 or so if I go to 75 mph.

If I drive on 2 lane roads at 55 mph and really try, I have got 21 mpg but it is hard to drive like that every day.

Sorry didn't notice this was for the new 08 engine. That 18 mpg is about the best I have heard on it. See how it does for city with your new found soft throttle foot

Well that is about the same experience that I have and I have about 10,000 miles on my truck. Mine is F250, Supercab Lariet with a long bed. the kicker is that sometime each tankful or more you will go into regen. When you factor a tank of gas with a regen or two you mostly can average about 16mpg if you drive reasonibly.

Unfortunately Ford has packed so much power into the beast that sometimes you just got to let it run, LOL

That is cool dude, because it is exactly the same secret for the 08. Keep it at or below 2000RPM and it gets reasonible gas mileage. Keep the turbo boost down and it will sip fuel.

My digital display shows 11.2 MPG at best. The truck has only 1100 miles and hasn't towed yet. Its not a sipper.....
