Finally selected a TV and put down a deposit. Should close the deal this weekend on a 2006 Dodge SLT Quad Cab 4X4 with the 5.9L HO Cummins. A real nice older gentleman has owned it since new and has every tank of fuel and oil change logged in a ledger. You get the idea. It's been babied.

Suffice to say, I am excited and anxious.

I gotta admit though, I might have just been dumb and lucky. I tried to do a ton of research and so forth, I drove several Fords and Chevys. In fact, I was shopping Chevy Duramaxes HARD. I just couldn't find the right truck/deal.

All of a sudden, I see this ad for a nice looking Dodge 2500. It's nearby, a private party sale, looks like it's been loved and bingo! Suddenly I am buying a Dodge. First Dodge I even looked at. So, I guess I'll find out over time if I have made a good choice :-)

BTW, first fifth wheel is due in a couple weeks. 34 ft. Copper Canyon, 9770 lbs dry, 12,000 lb GVWR, 1600 lb pin weight (per Keystone).

Cheers!

FWIW, Chrysler, each year, scores lowest in "fit and finish." Now that said, they are also the only American truck company with a CUMMINS. Until I see a Toyota with a HINO diesel in it, the Cummins is not negotiable. Of what is available now, that's my engine if I buy a truck.

My 05 hasn't seen the dealer since the day I bought it, but my buddies 05 Duramax has been back several times with many issues, most electrical. Another friend of mine can't keep transmissions behind his 04 Powerstroke, so it's hard to say, you might get lucky ,or you might not. But anyway, good luck!

Congratulations on the trailer, but I do feel I need to caution you about that much load in a 3/4 tn truck. According to your posted weights you will have a pin weight right at 2400 pounds on the truck. That is not uncommon for people towing with a 3/4 ton, but that is a lot of weight. You will want to load the trailer including water and propane, hitch up and make a trip to the local scales for some accurate numbers. I would suggest that you will want to look at tire ratings on the truck, and depending on how much sag you see, you will want to invest in either air bags or Timbrens to control the loaded trailers weight. Then go have fun. That's what it's all about.

My cousin owns a Dodge Cummins (never anything but). I own a Ford TD (never anything but). We're both tickled pink. Different folks - different strokes. Enjoy your Dodge - It'll do anything you need.
