If you plan to stay inside Denali Park, I would make reservations there. We live up here and make reservations but mainly because we know exactly where we want to stay and want to be sure we have a space. If you don't mind dry camping be sure to check out some of our National Forest Service campgrounds

We just arrived at the Yukon Motel and RV Park in Teslin, YT...nothing fancy, but not a bad place for a one night stop. We will spend the next three nights in Whitehorse, one night in Destruction Bay, and get into Alaska on Sunday.
We hope to see some of you along the way.
Safe travels,
Gordon and Juanita

We are back connected to the world for at least till Saturday. The Alaskan DOT needs to learn from the Canadian DOT on how to build & maintain a gravel road. On the Canadian side of the Top of the World highway it was easy to mainain 40mph. On the US side a burst to 30mph was a treat.
3 Campgounds need to be mentioned. There is a BLM CG on 40 mile creek about 20 miles east of Chicken which is a real gem. No services but Oh, what a beautiful place. Next one is Quartz Lake SP just west of Delta Junction. 2 areas. Dry camping again. $10. Rainbow trout almost jumping on lines. The last one is here in Fairbanks. Chena Marina RV Resort. Right on a floatplane pond. Staff fall all over themselves trying to be helpful. A real treat given the way most private CGs treat you.

Well, we headed out this morning on our way to the great northern frontier. We made about 350 miles and will spend the night in Cedar City, Utah. Tomorrow we'll stop in SLC (Draper, actually) and spend several days with DD and kids and then on north. Heard tonight on the news that there is rain storms a-brewing and will probably get wet tomorrow. On that subject, this morning while inspecting the slide out awnings, I noticed that the eternabond tape that is used in the connection between the one piece fiberglass roof and the body is peeling up. I decided to wait until I get to SLC and stop by CW and get some more. I understand that the tape is fairly easy to install....right?
Will stay tuned to this post to see how other Alaska bound travelers are doing.
See ya on the road..

I have a question for you Alaska travellers with RV's.
We went to Alaska in 2004 with our 38 foot 5th wheel and several times ran into either muddy road construction or dusty gravel roads which made the camper and truck a muudy mess. You Top of the World campers must have very dirty campers.
Where do you wash your vehicles??
I got up early in the campground and quickly rinsed off the camper and truck. The campground frowns on this, but didn't seem to have a choice.

Many of the campgrounds in the Yukon and Alaska have areas where, for a fee, you can wash you rigs. We stayed at campgrounds in Tok, Whitehorse, and Dawson City where we were able to clean off our TV and trailer. They were the three areas where we arrived the dirtiest. We got dirty along the Cassier also and had more trouble finding a campground to clean off the rig there.

Glad to see everyone is making progress. I cannot get on RV.NET on my comoputer. Have to use the library. I MUST get that fixed.
HOpe to meet some of you down at Deep Creek. We had orientation over the past 2 days and expect the next few weeks to be really busy.
Travel safely and have fun.
