In days of old, elves were hired to service generators, but now the elves are gone--possibly due to exposure to generator fumes.
There are many examples of ridiculous designs that make it nearly impossible to access things for repair. Makes me very, very angry!

$360.00 !!! I would have wanted the kiss and then an egg mcmuffin from them. Glad I do all mine myself, cost about $12.00 for filter and oil for Onan, then about $30.00 for oil and filter for engine.

Fleetwood will run the exhaust pipe right below the access door so it wont open completely! Now that took a real genius.

You got it right, I had the same pleasure with the NAPA strap wrench.

You didn't say what model Onan you have. I have the Onan Marquis gold 5500 Gasoline model. Onan and aftermaket places make a "cup" type oil filter wrench that slips over the end of the filter and you use a 3/8 drive extension and a 3/8 ratchet and turn it right off. Without the wrench, you can never get your fingers or hands on it to remove it. So you need the right tools,, about $6.00 for the wrench and no problem at least with the Marquis Gold.

Be thankful your Onan in in an RV and not enclosed in a sound-shield in the bilge of a boat.

You folk got to be kidding me. Your generator is not on roller drawer guides?? Filter and drain are on the door side, but even so, my generator rolls out the side of the coach for full access to both sides. I assumed they are all built that way. Its really the fault of the coach manufacturer, not Onan. The coach manufacturer should have enough brains to put the genny on drawer slides.
