My wife and I are thinking of making the jump from our Palomino Trailer to a Sunset Trail Fifth Wheel. I believe this is a totally new unit for 2008 (27RE). Does anyone have any input on the Sunset Trail line as a whole. Good Unit? Towability? How about warranty issues. Crossroads or Thor Industries also makes the Seville so I got to believe they know what they are doing because the Seville seems to be a very good unit. Any input much appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

MIke, go to Crossroadsrv.com/forum. Click on All Forums...there is a thread dedicated to the sunset trail and you can get an idea what the owners feel about it.
We own a 2006 Crossroads Cruiser CF29RK and are very satisfied how Crossroads handled the few warranty issues we had.
Crossroads seem to be very customer oriented.
If you have any further questions, call me .....Walter E. Spangler, in the York directory.
Regards, Walt

Mike I second the above. We are on our second Crossroads unit. Great warranty and customer service. We have a Cruiser now. Go into the Crossroads forum and check out the Sunset trail guys. They all seem to love them. I have found them to have a lot for the dollar.

Don't know anything about Sunset Trail, but as far as warranty & customer service from Crossroads, I can personally vouch for the fact that Crossroads is top-notch! When we ordered our Cruiser, we asked if Crossroads could customize something for us and they did - No Charge! And our dealer is great - so tend to think that they (Crossroads dealers & Crossroads mfg.) go hand-in-hand for excellent service & support.

We are on our second Crossroads(Cruisers)...we have loved both and have had no problems with either. We would buy another Crossroads in a heartbeat.

3 years, next month, fulltiming in our Cruiser. We would buy another Crossroads in a heart beat. Factory service is the best.

Thanks a bunch for the input. I did check out the forum on the Crossroads web site and everyones does seem happy with the Crossroads product. If I make the jump I will let you know how we like ours.

Seabeee8,

Nice to hear from someone in our area. We like the State Parks a lot. So if you like to camp Pinchot, Codorus, Caledonia on those short weekend trips maybe we will run into you. Have a great summer of camping everyone.

Buckeye Nut,

Sorry for not answering your question on my last response. We did infact compare the SunsetTrail to the Jayco. The Jayco is a real nice unit. I think the things that made us lean towards the Sunset Trail were realatively small issues for most but made the difference for us.

1. Most importantly was price. We could not get the Jayco dealer near the price for the Sunset Trail.
2. Liked the bathroom arrangement in the Sunset Trail better.
3. Liked the black tank flush system on the Sunset Trail.
4. There seemed to be more storage in the Sunset Trail.
5. The 2/5 Warranty!
6. Then there was that strange feeling you get when you are looking over a unit that "Yes this is the one, I feel comfortable in here". Heck my wife gets it every year at the York and Hershey Camper Shows.

Just a few reasons. But like I said, There was nothing I found wrong with the Jayco. Pound for Pound, Dollar for Dollar a nice unit.

Good Luck with your decision,
Mike

thanks for the info. your the first person that has been able to compare the two. when you said the sunset trail had more storage did it have more on the outside also or just inside. i also like the bathroom setup better, from floor plan looked like it wasnt in the bedroom like jayco, that was about the only thing i didnt like about the jayco. was pantry as big in sunset trail as jayco? dont know what kind of price your jayco dealer was giving you but if the price was a deciding factor you might want to check out rvdirect, they have a pretty good price, it was about 4,000 cheaper than a dealer in ohio. i havent been able to find a price on the sunset trail so i cant compare. good luck with your decision and let me know what you decide.
