Here is a link to the brand we have and have used for many years. Lodge Dutch Ovens We have two of the six quart size (one for the meal and one for dessert!) I would also recommend the carrying tote as the outside of the oven gets quite messy from the coals. If you get another brand, I would just say to be sure your oven has legs on the bottom. My mother tried to surprise us with one for Christmas once, and when we tried to cook in it everything burned as it sat directly on the coals. Have fun!

I have found many that were great to use, I assume by camp use you will be using charcoal or fire coals. I prefer the flat top with a rim to stack coals on or stack ovens with feet. I also like the ones with feet. Consider how many people you want to feed, when buying match the amount of people you are feeding with the size needed.
I assume you are aware of the cleaning and care of cast iron. I about crapped the first time my stepson did me a favor and put my skillet in the dishwasher, I really had to think of the big picture to let him live and not destroy our relationship. I then got to show him how to season, and clean cast iron stuff, including the salt and water trick.

Lodge is the brand I would recommend. They have been in business for many years. I worked at a sporting goods business and sold many of the Lodge products and I can't remember one being returned because of a defect. Depending on the size meals you would be making I would think you would need a #12 or 14. If you will be using charcoal you will need to get the pots with legs.

Lodge is the brand I would recommend. We have a 4, 6, 10 and 12 qts that all have legs and we have a 5 qt. that does not that we use with a tripod. We use the 5 and 6 the most for our family of 4 one of these is a teenage boy that eats enough for 10!

The store I work at sells Camp Chef, so that's all I have. We've never had one returned, either and I really like them. These are all pre-seasoned, so you don't have to worry about seasoning them.

Get the tool for lifting the lid off and moving the DO too.

I had already purchased two Lodge DOs, a 14" and a 12" when I "discovered" the Camp Chef Ultimate Dutch Oven.
It is specially constructed to perform as a convection oven. As such, it cooks really fast, and it's tiered racks allow interesting recipes. It's unique shape is also handy for baking desert cakes while camping.
