We also leave non-perishables in our RV during camping season. We empty most food stuffs out during the winter, but during the summer having the basics there means less trips from the house to the trailer when heading out for the weekend. BTW, DW had stored a six pack of her fav. rootbeer over the fridge to hide it from other rootbeer suckers last fall. Forgot it during cleanout last fall, and sure did make a mess when a couple froze and broke during the winter. Make sure you go through all, repeat all, cabinets before winter storage.

I open my 3 vents under the MaxxAir covers and we leave all non-perishables in the trailer. I have a beer/drinks fridge in my garage and anything requiring refrigeration goes in there between trips.

I leave all basic staples in the trailer including canned goods, cereal, p-nut butter etc.
However, we store ours indoors in our office warehouse so it's fairly well protected from extreme heat/cold. Living in So. Calif. helps also as we are able to camp year 'round (cheer schedule permitting) and out weather if fairly mild.
water bottles, soda and stuff in the refrigerator is taken out after each trip.
We camp year'round and leave perishables in the trailer. Ours is in our yard and we rotate items in and out of the trailer because we run out of something in the house. Because we don't have to winterize, we generally don't worry about freezing anything. If the forecast is for freezing temps, we set the heaters to keep it above freezing. In the summer, it does get hot here, but we are using it almost every weekend. Obviously, anything that will melt does come out or go in the refrigerator.
We, also, tend to leave anything that's unopened in the rig...tempuratures in So. California stay mild, even toward the extremes for our area, so we'll take anything that doesn't seal well, and make sure that any close dates are taken home, too.

We leave non-perishibles in the 5er, actually come in handy when you forgot something at the store and rather than go shopping just run out to the 5er and get it. Just need to remember to refill. Oh yea dorn't forget to refill it's a bummer when you used the last popcorn or something and didn't refill.

We leave the cans in for the few weeks between trips. But, did find that the noodles in the macaroni n cheese got funny tasting. I don't know if it was the heat or the fake wood cupboards or both. So things like that come in, now.
Is it OK to keep non-perishables in a sealed plastic container? Or will insects/vermin still find their way into there? I'm referring about simple things like packs of salt, sugar, hot cocoa, etc. that are probably not heat sensitive. I don't mind unpacking/re-packing perishables and things that are heat sensitive (candy, etc.), but would prefer not to do that for EVERYTHING. We will be part-time weekend campers (once every 2 weeks or so).
