Anyone pulling a fifth wheel with a Nissan Titan Crew Cab, 2007 Model with the big tow package. I normally don’t like to pull anything past the 60% GVWR but seriously thinking about getting a fifth wheel around the 7300lb Dry weight. The Titan can handle 9400lbs.

Any advice

I looked at a fifth wheel and could not make it work. My gross vehicle weight is 6440. With just my 2 bills and a full tank of gas I was at 5340. I could not find a fiver I wanted with a pin weight of less than 1000 pounds. There are people out there who tow fifth wheels with Titans but they exceed the weight limits. The weak part of the Titan is that it is not a "hauler". It will tow but it won't take much weight on the truck.

Sorry but your pushing it. There is really no 1/2 tons that can handle a medium size fiver.

Here's why:

1. Your GVR is around 6500lbs. Subtract the curb weight and that provide 1200 pounds of total payload. A 7300 lb 5th will put 1700 pounds or so on the truck before you even start.

2. A 7500 lb dry equals 8500-9000 loaded.

3. Yes subtracting GCWR of around 14800 from curb gives you around 9400 lbs but you really can't tow that entire amount.

But all this said I don't pull with a Titan so take what I say with a grain of salt.

There is no reason you can't tow a 5th wheel provided it's within your tow ratings. Your limiting factor will most likely be your GVWR or your GRAWR so watch your numbers closely. Your pin weight on a fully loaded trailer will be a lot more than on an empty one so figure the trailers GVWR X .25 to get it's maximum pin wieght. Since you will PROBABLY have no interest in pulling around an empty trailer I'd suggest you forget the dry weight as it's meaningless. Consider the GVWR as a means of determining if you can tow it. Personally I believe that you will be WAY over your trucks payload (which would be something like 1700 lb. which includes any optional equipment, passengers, 5th wheel hitch and the pin weight in addition to any cargo carried by the truck. If your trailer has a GVWR of 8,000 lb. (and I guarantee you it'll be a LOT more than thatif it's 7300 lb. empty) it would have a maximum pin weight as high as 2,000 lb. so you would be well over your GVWR with a completely EMPTY trailer. You would be MUCH better of with a travel trailer so you would have dozens of possibilities to choose from rather than only a very small 5th wheel.
Good luck / Skip
