First, let me say I understand that this forum is part of the Coast to Coast faimily...so if you feel you MUST take this down I understand. That being said I am posting and telling anyone who will listen or allow me to post this story, I'd like to be able to end it on a happy note.

Recently (the first one went out about three weeks ago) I sent two emails to Coast's President email address to which i have never gotten a response.

I'll start from the beginning. Last year we purchased membership in a park which allows us to become coast members too. We immediately began planning our summer trip around Coast member parks.

The first issue we had was that one of our stops disappeared from the coast resort page the week we were going to place our reservations. I checked the "recently added/deleted" section of the member page, NOTHING, no information about it. I called the park, to make reservations on my own they said that they were NO LONGER affiliated with Coast. According to the lady I spoke with at the park it was know en that the relationship would be ending for months before the park vanished from the coast website. It would have been MOST helpful if i would have know en so that we could have planned better.

My second issue, was a week before our planned departure, a Coast Rep. called my house and said that our reservations had been canceled by the park. I didn't understand but apparently having reservation does not mean that you are guaranteed a site. I was very pleased that Coast offered (and did) pay for accommodations at a nearby KOA. It was up to me to find the alternative park so it was a great inconvenience/hassle for us to have reroute and plan (again).

At this point I am thinking that my misgivings with coast was a fluke, one of those things that happen only to me.

This year we re upped the membership and began to plan our summer trip. Again, we turned to the Coast website. We found a tentative route but didn't make reservations. One day a few weeks ago i logged in and began to browse the resorts, much to my dismay one of the resorts we had planned on visiting was GONE from the list. Again, i checked the "recently added/deleted" list, NOTHING, no entries. I understand that changes happen and resorts get added and deleted all the time, but I wish someone would inform us, the members the members of coast.

As I said in the beginning of this post, I did try to contact Coast about this, twice in fact. NOTHING, NO SORRY, NO EXPLANATIONS, NO RECOMMENDATIONS. I know the message was received because I got back the automated response saying it was.

Well, there it is, my beef with Coast.

Next time save your money.

Why in the heck did you re-up when you had such a bad experience the first time?

I do quite well on my own.

I think that I had a lifetime C2C membership 30 years ago. That was when it was only $1 per night. Don't know, I haven't used it for 29 years.

I've never belonged to any of the camping type "clubs" or "time share" type resorts, but one things for sure, you've laid out your money for this. Don't give up. Keep trying to contact them. That's disappointing though, you plan on staying at a specific campground, and then it's closed or under new management, one that won't recognize your prior reservation.

For what it's worth, if you're bumping into campgrounds that are backing out of using Coast-to-Coast, perhaps you should rethink using it yourself too? There's reasons why companies break affiliations with other companies. You sound like the type of person that does their homework and likes to plan ahead. You might do better with out them, planning on your own, or at least, always consider a "back-up" plan, which is exactly what you had to do. (good for you)! Still, it is discouraging you've paid for a service and then it doesn't work like it's suppose to.

Why not talk to your home park and see what they tell you. Coast to coast cannot stop campgrounds from dropping their participitation and they get no advance notice. This forum is not a coast to coast forum but coast to coast as well as many others are part of this forum.

Talking to my home park is the next thing i intend to do. I plan on doing it in person. We will be heading there this weekend or next. As, I said, I understand that Coast can't stop parks from dropping them. My problem is they are not telling me...its sorta like an easter egg hunt to find out what parks are no longer Coast parks. I was under the impression that this forum is at least in part owned/hosted by Coast, who I understand is partially or wholly owned by Good Sam (or vise versa), all of which are part of the RV.NET 'family'.

Its just all so confusing!

Sounds like this Coast to Coast company has forgotten an important rule
