Lou the builder screwed us when he built our home, we have a full front porch but it is not opened underneath so the poor puppies freeze in the winter.

Ok, I'm sorry but if I bought it I can do with it what I want. I take care of my things and don't leave them rotting out in the front or the back yard. We live in an older subdivision which has no HOA, thank goodness. How does my travel trailer bring down anyone's property values? I think there are to many people worrying about how other people live their lives.

I'm surprised, folks...are you really saying that anyone who has a camper and/or boat in their front yard is "trash"? That's pretty offensive, considering you don't know the situation. Our home is situated on an interestingly shaped piece of land, and our septic system is in the backyard which doesn't allow for us to to park our TT and boat there because of the weight. We take a lot of pride in our home and yard and don't wish to be judged because others don't want to look at what we spend our free time enjoying. There certainly are neighborhoods with covenants that dictate where parking is allowed. Typically, these are newer neighborhoods and the homes are built and situated on lots with this in mind. Should I assume that people who live there are snobs? I don't think so.

Inside for the winter??? Aww... heck! that's where we keep the chickens. Ya see, up here in Hanover Oh-Haa-Oh we gots to keep our homes lookin nice so we keep the rif-raf up on the porch behind the cars on blocks.
lol...
I live in an un-zoned township development where our neighbors can park where they want, when they want, and how they want. We have a variety of working class Americans who do what it takes (for the most part) to make a living and put food on the table for our families. Since our economy is in a downward spiral, I'm relying on the government to supply my "weakly" unemployment check until I can find another job. My neighborhood has properties from all ends of the spectrum. This is how developments go when living in an area with no zoning or restrictions. Fortunately for me I have enough trees and space to screen any unwanted views.

Well, if you purchased a residence with covenants and restrictions you should abide by the rules. In our old subdivision you had to have approval to change the color of your house and have landscaping plans approved. All the house colors and landscaping were earth-toned and looked very nice, and the rule was there to keep future owners from painting a house pink with purple trim and decorating the yard with a flock of pink flamingos.

And that is exactly why I didn't buy one with covenants or restrictions.

I live in a restricted sub and I can only park my TT in my driveway during "normal loading and unloading". I knew that when I built the house. It sucks but that's the way it is.
There's a debate going on right now in St Augustine Beach about this very subject. St Aug Bch is made up of deed restricted communities developed around and non-restricted properties. The deed restricted folks are trying to make the non-restricted folks move their RV's and it looks like their gaining ground. Not good.

Quote: The deed restricted folks are trying to make the non-restricted folks move their RV's and it looks like their gaining ground. Not good. Definitely not good! This is what burns me - folks moving into an established community that want to change the rules. We moved to an unincorporated area from a small town here that did just that; it's a bedroom community, mixed blue- and white-collar, and after some newer developments were built along the edge of it, people wanted to ban parking any recreational equipment (campers, boats, snowmobiles) on any part of the property, including in the older sections of town. We managed to get that changed to a less restrictive ordinance, but more recently they were at it again, this time wanting to ban the parking of "work vehicles" (vans/trucks with company logos on them, etc.) overnight. Well, I'm sorry, but what do you do if you live there and you're a plumber or electrician or whatever???? Snobbery. Pure snobbery.

I agree it is nice in certain ways to live in a subdivision. Only the clean yard part. I did live in the country and my neighbor was Sanford and son. I got tired of his filthy ways. But enjoyed the privacy.
I wanted to put my trailer beside my house and put up a wood fence to separate it from my neighbors yard. But may do this later when things are forgotten. I will make do with it for now but I don't have to like it. Sure do miss being in the country though, even if some on here might call me a red-neck. thanks YALL mike
