Still there.....SEE

Newbie on slider seals/gaskets

Newbie to 5 ver's and sliders. My rig 32' 99 alumalite HR Last big rain I noticed my carpt wet near frontroom slider rear corner. My buddy and I started investigating and noticed that the upper slider seal was 7/8 flipped over towards us; about 1/8 was still rolled the other direction ? We opened and closed the sliders several times while watching the action. Also the bedroom slider does the same thing; but seal/gasket rolls opposite way about half way. Question Should I clean/wax the top of the slidersand should I be lubing these gaskets with something/ If yes; what?? Any other suggestions are highly appreciated. Side note: I think the previous owner had a leakage problem; but didn't fess up. The reason I say this is while finding this leak and paying closer attention to the seal/gasket operation; we noticed the front slider has the orginal light seal foam gasket dust seal gasket just behind the slider trim plate so when the slider is all the way extened helps seal out the dust?? Well the front room slider has had the orignal light foam removed and a thicker black; rubbber seal installed ??

My slide out had a leak too. It was the caulk on top of the slide out. Check that too. Run your finger down it and try and lightly wiggle it.

You should be cleaning and treating seals with products like Protect-All, SPF 2000 or 303.
This type of products removes dirt, grime, softs the material and protects from UV damage.

Aside from what Bud said, you also need to make sure your slide-out roof(s) is clean from debris and clean and wax the sides of your slide-out(s) so the seals will glide along them as they open/close.....

It looks like some of you need to learn how to use the forum.

Click on a user's name, in the left column. Additional options will show up, such as "View Posts". markpp only has two posts, it's really easy to find the post that he was referring ot.
