We kept our first one 2 years. That's how long it took us to finally decide what we wanted in our next one. Plan on keeping it for a long time. Real happy with it so far.

My 1st was a used 1995 27' Sandpiper TT kept it 6 months and it got totaled by Insurance company from a Hail Storm.
My 2nd was a 2003 Cardinal 33RLB TT kept it 25 months traded it in on a 2005 Cardinal 35CKT FW.Been having it for 43 months and plan on keeping it for a while.I like the floorplan ( which has been discontinued) it has had very few issuses to deal with and we just like it so we see no need to get in a hurry for a new one.

We started out with a used 27' Sunline, and liked it so much that we sold it after a year and bought a new Sunline (same size). We owned that one for 2 years, then sold it and bought a new 2004 Airstream. We sold the Airstream last fall and are now waiting to take delivery of our first 5th whleel -- a 40' Newmar Kountry Aire.
Our total accumulated depreciation loss on the 3 trailers that we've sold was approx. $17,000 - not bad considering all the fun we've had RVing 3-4 months each year.
Flyfisher, We had Sunline trailers also among other brands. Sunlines were real good for a light weight trailer. We then bought a 1999 Newmar Kountry Star Fiver. Great unit, no problems to speake of. Only drawback is the weight. I hope you get a big horse for that 40'er. One of the heavier unit made. You might need a medium duty to do the job right.
Good luck and if you need any more info feel free to drop a line. We're not to far away in Altoona and camp down your way some.

Our first new RV was a TT. Kept it 10 years and it was still in great condition. Current 5th Wheel I am planning on having it for about 10 years as well and by that time the youngest will be almost graduating and it will be time to move to a rear LR style 5er. IMHO, if you keep everything working and clean they last well past 10 years and the 10 year mark is a pivot point for selling at a reasonable price. Try to sell it (private party) too soon and it is hard to get rid of, let it get too old and worn and you end up giving it to someone.

We bought a new 28' 5th wheel in 1987 and kept it for 18 years, replaced it with a 32' double slide model that should serve us well for an equally long time. Jack

I am on my first Class A and have had it for two years. I love it. Sure I look at newer units but every time I come to the same conclusion. The price differance does not justify the small gain in features. For the money differance I can change tons of stuff in mine. I am just now replacing my front TV as many here have done with a nice new flat screen and it really gives the coach a NEW feel. I think I will just keep remodeling this one so it will always seem new to me... FWIW. Otherwise this coach does every thing I ask of it.
