In a couple weeks from now my wife and I will take delivery of our 4th travel trailer in the past 7 years.

We started out with a used 27' Sunline, and liked it so much that we sold it after a year and bought a new Sunline (same size). We owned that one for 2 years, then sold it and bought a new 2004 Airstream. We sold the Airstream last fall and are now waiting to take delivery of our first 5th whleel -- a 40' Newmar Kountry Aire.

Our total accumulated depreciation loss on the 3 trailers that we've sold was approx. $17,000 - not bad considering all the fun we've had RVing 3-4 months each year.

I must be doing something wrong. My first RV was a pickup slide-in unit I built myself. It was 11 1/2' long and weighed nearly 2,000 lbs. I kept it for just over 15 years. Then took it off and set it down on blocks at my deer lease where is stayed for another 10 years. My second RV was a 22" Travel trailer "Nomad" that I bought new and kept for 12 years. Sold it to my brother-in-law and they are still using it 5 years later. My third (and hopefully) final RV is a 34" 5th wheel Titanium that I will have paid off in two more years and since I am 61 now, I think it will outlive me.

Had first pop-up about 25 years, second pop-up only 2 years, traded it for present 5er; expect to keep it till we die (let the kids figure out how to sell it).

I have had my Skyline layton 26 TT for 20 yrs and it is still good. Outside is faded but inside is very well kept. Now trying to sell it since i got the 35ft Duango. I just put new tires and new tanks and a cover for the tanks and wife thought is was to small now....

My dad gave us our first trailer. It was a late '70s 19' Road Ranger IIRC.

We used that for a few years and sold it to buy our second trailer in 2002. It was a 23' Forest River TT.

We kept the FR for 5 years and bought our fifth wheel last Spring.

We'll probably keep this one for 4-5 more years and then buy a motorhome so I can take my larger boat when we travel.

Varies with the need. 1st was 14 yr, then 2 yrs, then 10 years, then had one for 1 yr, then had 2 at once and traded them at 2 yrs. Traded that at 2 1/2 yrs. Now have one for 4 yrs. Depends on need.

Had my first unit, a 10' truck camper for 3 years. Got crowded with two kids.

Moved up to a 5er bunkhouse. Had this for 2 years already and I'm just getting started on the mods. I plan to keep for another 6-8 years.

Then, planning to move up to a Super C.

We purchased our first fiver (2000 Fleetwood Terry) in 2004, and sold it in 2007. We purchased our current coach (see sig). DH wants to keep it forever because it suits our needs very well, however I say sell it in 3-4 years and upgrade to a new one (same make and model).

Happy RVing

We've had three rigs in 5 years. Started with basic popup. The next year trade up to a Jayco 12HW popup, Shower, pottie and all. The next year got the hots got a 5th wheel. I love it. I got to get a diesel truck to pull it!!!! My wife sometimes misses the popup.
