My guess would be that after you made your ressies, someone asked about coming in earlier in that same spot, but would be over-lapping your stay time.

That could very well be; however, since you make your reservation first, the other people should be given another spot with the option to move to your spot once you leave.

How 'bout: some one else made the reservation first for that specific site and you then called and asked to stay for X days. They said yes, we can get you in but you'll have to move on day X?

I made a reservation for a week and in the middle of it, I was asked to move since my spot was reserved for someone else. Why do campgrounds make reservations, then tell you someone else made a reservation for the spot you're in? If you choose to stay an extra night, you may have to move. Can someone explain why a CG has to make a person pack/up move a site or two over?

Unless some sort of incentive was given, you should have declined to move. Why not make the other reservation move instead of you?

Never come across this but, if I made the reservation for say 7 days and on the third day was asked to move the ansewer would be no. If some incentive was given to move that would be a different story. Why should I have to tear down my camp and move to a different site and set up again. The people coming in have not set up and therefore do not have to tear down. If it was a group camping together I would consider moving. This is why I always have my reservation confirmation with me. Tells the site and dates.

When I make a reservation I don't ask for a specific spot, or I"ll ask if a specific spot is available for the duration of my stay, either way I'm flexible.

Now let's assume that I arrive at the campground and am put in whatever site is available for the duration of my stay. So far I'm happy. Now if on day 3 of my 7 day stay I'm asked to move... well I might IF I'm given a day for free or maybe a free meal at a good restaurant, but just to move because someone else "wants" my spot 'cause it is their favorite and management isn't willing to compensate me for moving.... no way!
