I also don't like being blinded by bright HID lights but I didn't mention what degree Kelvin lights I ordered. I have after market bulbs, a Bright Box and still find the lights dismal. I could have installed Dodge Sport lights or a prerunner bar with external lights but went this way. By the way, these bulbs have both HI and LO, not always the case with HID.

After looking at the options to upgrade mine, and seriously considering an HID system...I chose to go with a Brite Box made by INNOVA and Sylvania Silverstar (9007 & 9005) bulbs. This system allows the low beams AND the fog lights to stay on when the hi beams are selected. It is a dramatic improvement over the stock lighting system!
Note that the 9005 fog lamps are brighter than the stock 9006's and require their "bulbzilla" kit.

Thanks for the link Mark. That definitely looks like the way to go.

I agree with the guys that don't like being blinded by bright lights.
It may be harsh but if your eyes get to the point that you cannot safely navigate down a dark road with a good set of OEM headlight's then it may be time to pull over and wait for daylight. Don't make the situation worse by blinding the oncoming traffic. I for one really want the guy I am meeting to be able to see so that he stays on his own side of the road.

Crumm, the key words in your post are "a good set of OEM headlights"
I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has knowledge of HID lights and what vehicles are currently for sale with them as OEM and what degree K they operate at. I get the feeling with my limited knowledge that anytime someone has bright lights they are automaticaly assumed to be HID light.
I'll pick out a dark place and use my lumen meter for reading both with and without HID to get some data. I wonder how many of you carry a long TORX driver and adjust your headlights to compensate for the light pattern with or without the TC. It will be interesting to see if I lights flicked at me with the lights aimed to what I need to be able to see well.
I am not alone in feeling Dodge second gen lights suck, I see posts all the time on Dodge sites wondering how to improve. As you can tell, I am a bit defensive about this and be assured they will come off if I think they are a problem. As for driving at night, I try to avoid it but you can't go thru life driving in daylight only. And yes I do wear glasses, the kind you get for $20 to read by. I'm willing to bet I can see better at long range than most but as you get old your eyes don't adjust from bright to dim as well as they used to.

I can relate and this is why I don't like bright headlights blinding me.
I use to run two sets of Hella HID driving lights. Problem was that as I got older my eyes would not adjust to low-beam headlights when I dimmed them for oncoming traffic. Lots of lights on high but dark on low. I found one key to good low beams was high beams that went farther than the low beams but were not necessarily brighter. Old eyes can see good but not adjust to changes fast.

I have a 3rd generation Dodge, and my service advisor told me the last time I was in for service that surprisingly there is no vertical height adjustment for the headlights on '07 & '08 Dodge Rams. He said that the headlights are installed at the factory with this vertical plane in a fixed position, and that only side-to-side adjustments could be made. If this is true, this seems ridiculous to me. What is someone to do with situations like a TC (or other heavy load) in the bed, or putting on a leveling kit, installation of a heavy front bumper/winch combination, etc., etc.?

Either stinkin' thinkin', or some bean counter came up with a masterful cost savings plan to make the corporation 25 cents more in profit per truck sale

For those interested in installing "Brite Boxes", be careful, there have been a number of them that have gone "up in smoke", I found this on one of the dodge truck sites.

While I agree that HID's suck in your face, I HAVE noticed the the "blinding" point is MUCH smaller with them then older style. I have more trouble with mis aimed lights of any kind, then HID's. Except for the MORON in the VERY lifted ford this am about 4' from my rear bumper on the highway. That put his lights aimed exactly @ my side mirrors! Oh well, if I can't see where I am going, I just slow down until I can!
