We are awaiting the arrival of our Trail Lite TL30BH. One of the things we requested when we ordered the trailer was to have one of those larger folding assist handles installed instead of the small one the trailer came with. Apparently they couldn't do this at the factory so the dealer is going to add it. It sounds like they plan on leaving the small handle in place and then installing the large handle overtop of the small one. Does this make sense? Will it look silly? Ideally I would like the small handle removed but I am not sure what to do with the holes left behind.

I was just at a dealership and many of the small handles were left in place. I did notice them, but it was more of a "Great, they added the assist handle". It didn't look silly to me.

My B-I-L has both the small handle and larger assist handle on his TT. It does not look bad. Just think you will have two handles now.

I have both on my rig as well. We use both from time to time. Just leave it. Good luck.

Two handles would work and look better than two holes. Besides, when the big one is folded back, the other one is still there to use.

It may look silly but that is how I installed mine. I have also seen a number of other trailers with the handles installed like that as others have stated. I find that the smaller handle is better for pulling while going up the steps and the folding assist handle better for going down the steps where you just need to steady yourself.

I left our little one there too. It really doesn't look that bad, and if you need it, it's still there. The large assist handle was super easy to install, took less than 10 minutes. You could always have the dealer just give it to you and install it yourself.

Installed my assist handle over the lil factory one also. Oem handle is white, so doesnt stick out in a crowd. You will find a definet advantage to have both.
With a badly broken ankle I could not have gotten in or out without having both.
Take 10 mins, drill the 4 holes and mount it yourself. Dealer labor will probably tripple your investment.
