Howdy All!
I have come to the trenches for some more help and advice from the collective group here...
I took my Jayco Jay Flight 27BH in to have braces under the bunk bed replaced...the board shattered under my DD's bed
While at the Dealership, a hole was punched into the inside of the entrance door, about 1/3 of the way up from the bottom...about waist high!
I did not inspect the repairs until I had the trailer back at home. When I opened the door to enter the trailer, the hole was right there...you could not miss it! I mean you could not open the door without seeing it, lol!
I called the service department right away and received the usual run around...Why would we...How could we...Noone told me...
The dealership then said that they would offer to cover the bottom third of the WHITE door with diamond plating...okay....
The dealership told me it would cost them $1,000.00 to replace the door with a new one, wow! I did not know that the door cost about 1/15th of the total cost of the entire trailer!!!
Anyway, I emailed Jayco and sent photos of the damage. Jayco emailed back and said they contacted the Dealership and felt that the offer to Diamond plate on the door was okay!
What would you guys do if this was your TT? Do you think that this is a satisfactory offer?
Thanks for taking time out to read this long rant, lol!
Just another day in Paradise!

What year is your rig ? If it's older I'd say it probably is not worth the brain damage of fighting with them. If it's newer, I'd push for the new door. You can always try to negoiate a better deal with the factory. Keep climbing the ladder until you get a better deal.

IMO - they broke it, they give you a new door. I don't believe the $1,000.00 figure either. It can't be that much, especially at their cost.

That's unfortunate,
I would insist on the dealer replacing the door at there cost.
By offering to cover the hole with diamond plate they have admitted fault.

I think the problem you are going to run into is the fact that you did not inspect/notice the damage at the dealers lot. That situation kinda leaves them an out if you ask me. On the other hand the mere fact that they are willing to cover the damage with diamond plate may suggest something.
I would get the service manager, owner and technician(s) together in the same room for a meeting and calmy see if an arrangement could be made that would please everyone.

What is this with $1,000 Jayco doors? I was at our local Jayco dealer (Hartville RV) and he mentioned the EXACT same thing. He was discussing how if I went to RV Direct he didn't have to do any warranty work on the unit, and doors were $1,000 alone!
This must be some standard sales line inside Jayco methinks...
And (off topic), a lot of dealers really hate us on RV.Net and the internet in general....

I my opinion when they offered to put diamond plating on the door, that was accepting responsibility.
I would fight longer hand higher trying to get the door replaced.
If they continue to fight you on it, try discussing it on the sales floor. Don't yell, but talk loud enough that other customers can hear.
