Sorry you think it was a slam as it was not, just a question to all of the people that post Jayco has the best customer service of all the RV manufactures.

As to #1: Jayco told the OP what they thought here is part of his post
“Anyway, I emailed Jayco and sent photos of the damage. Jayco emailed back and said they contacted the Dealership and felt that the offer to Diamond plate on the door was okay!”
and that tells me that BOTH Jayco and the Dealer are liars and looking at their bottom line and not the Customer! Why you say we have a link that will let you price out a door and it came in at $325 and change not $1000.00+ like the dealer told the OP. So tell me where is that famous Customer Service?

Why is it if a car dealer does not repair your TV we hear Chrysler, GM, Chevy or Ford builds junk and I’m never going to buy a domestic ever again. I bet if your deal put a hole in your GMC Yukon Denali’s dash then told you the fix was going to be a dash cover like the ones you see in the JC Whitney catalog you would be on the phone to GM asking what they are going to do to make this right.

The OP called Jayco because the dealer is an authorized dealer for them and I’m sure in your Jayco owner’s manual it spells out what to do in these cases i.e. contact dealer Service Manager, then General Manager then Owner then Jayco, it’s called the Chain of Command.

I’m sorry if my dealer punched a hole in my TT then said they would cover it with DP do to the cost of the door and Keystone backed them my TT would be parked out in front of the dealer’s place of business and I would be letting everyone know what kind of Dealer and manufacturer they are.

Actually....the first service we took our Denali into @ the dealer they washed the car and put a big scratch in the front window. We did NOT go running to GM for the fix but dealt with the dealer on it. It wasn't GM's fault their "authorized" dealer put a scratch in our window - it was dealer error and the dealer was responsible for the fix. And yes, they did offer to have a window company come and "repair" the window - which we did not take them up on. In the end the dealer replaced the window at their cost. Part of the problem here is that he inspected the trailer AFTER getting it home when it should have been done at the dealer lot. It is still my opinion that it's not a Jayco issue or warranty issue as much as it is a dealer issue and regardless of cost the DEALER should foot the bill and replace his door - not just patch it.

I apologize - "slam" was not the right word to use. It just appears to me that people like to find every reason to down Jayco when in reality they are a really good company and their customer service IS top notch. However, they are still human and i'm sure every once in awhile someone or something doesn't get taken care of perfectly every time. Also, some people, no matter what is done, will never be happy. Nature of the business - we deal with it every single day. Nothings perfect.

To the OP. I would hold out for a replacement door and not just a patch. The dealer messed up and they should fess up and replace the door with little hassle to you. Try to stay calm and state just facts when dealing with them - it's much easier to deal with a calm person than an angry, yelling, emotional one. Take pictures of the damage. If you have a picture of the door before it went in for service - pull that out as well. document who you speak to, what was said and when. I would go to the owner of the dealership with pictures and explain what has happened, what has been said (fix with diamond plate) and what you want (new door). A new door is a reasonable request. If you don't get anywhere with this - then I would go up the chain of command at Jayco - not to get them to pay or "warranty" it but to put pressure on the dealership to replace the door as they are an authorized Jayco repair shop and really, this should have never happened.

Frankly I would have to show my @#$ if you know what I mean. If I had a brand new trailer and knew that the dealership punched a hole in the door and just wanted to patch it thats enough to cause war!!! I know somebody out there will correct me if I am wrong but I haven't saw a travel trailer out there yet that has a diamond plate door. Especially a 27bh (I have a 2005 model.) Car or camper I haven't met a dealer yet that their service department was up to snuff. Are they all like that??? I sure wouldn't want to be the "diamond plate door man" make them fix it right!!!!!

Very well said and I agree 100% cool and calm always works better then going in looking for a fight.

And I still say with all of the opportunities to do further damage to the trailer while replacing the door and/or things not quite lining up as well as the old door does or matching colors , I'd take the fix .

Jamesrpm makes a good point. The fact that oftens happen when in for one thing sometime else gets messed up. This is not just a RV service center thing either.

it doesn’t, and many of the things repaired under warranty could have been the cause of neglect or miss use…

there is a certain amount of reasonable trust that is required between any dealer or service center and the customer… when you leave it in their care you are entrusting them to use due diligence in the care of your unit…. Likewise when you say it just quit working, they trust you are being honest with them, and unless there is evidence otherwise they do the repair…

I am sure it was not intentional… but there were two mistakes made…
first the tech that did it maybe didn’t tell anyone fearing losing his job, it may not have even been the tech that worked on this unit…
second damage that obvious maybe should have been seen before leaving the dealer…

sometimes things happen and mistakes are made, and sometimes we don’t catch them as soon as we should…

now its time to resolve it because it can’t be done without repair or replacement… a offer of repair was made… if it is unacceptable say so and request the only alternative, replacement…

if the dealer disagrees take it to the next step… the damage is minor and should be easily resolved if its not blown out of proportion by either party… dealer cost on the door should be well under $200… if he gets the same door from jayco it may cost him a few dollars more… for $1,000 you could put French doors on it…

I don’t think Jayco’s reputation is at stake here… every make gets slammed from time to time… I bet, not one of them is out of business just because they got slammed on rv.net every once in a while…

Well is the Dealer or Jayco going to reimburse him for the loss in value to his TT? Do you think he will get top dollar on a trade in or resale with a piece of diamond plate screwed to the inside of the door? No I would insist on a new door and if I didn’t think the dealer could handle it and no I don’t, it would need to be done at the factory repair shop on the dealers dime.

Wow !

This is not a question. If I bring my truck to Dodge and they punch a hole in the door they fix it and properly not body fill. It's a 2007 trailer not an 1985. What is this world coming to. Take care of your mistake and own up to it. Not a patch job. That's just not right. They are way to greedy.

I hardly believe a small hole or a few dings are going to affect the value of the RV one bit. It's a 2007 USED trailer not a new one.I think the replacement is a far worse cure than a minor fix , although I might try for a few accessories too, to salve my hurt feelings and any perceived loss in value.
