I read something the other day. That the digital change over will affect some cable customers. If you google that sentence there are a lot of articles about it.

We NEED a TV I work from my camper a good bit and we go to see family a lot with the camper. Hence, we're not always in the most entertaining place and with the kids, if it's raining, or mosquito infested New Orleans in the summer, you better have some night time fun also.

How do you identify if your TV needs it? I was under the impression that pretty much any flat panel tv with a tuner would be fine?

The Insignia will not pass analog. In a one converter per TV install (Which I recommend) you put a splitter in the antenna lead to the TV, split the signal so analog still goes to the TV (Actually everything does but the TV ignores digital) and then you send digital (Likewise everything but the converter ignores analog) to the converter.. Use the A/V cables (included with the converter) to feed an A/V input on the TV if you have one

If not then put a switch (Standard A/B or Game/Antenna or Cable/Antenna switch after the converter

The first splitter line (Direct to tv) goes instead to the ANTENNA or "A" contact on the switch.. The converter to the other one and the common lead to the TV Now the switch works to select Digital or Analog

The only problem I have with the Insignia is that I have to unplug it every week or it locks up on me... Don't know why

gman53 and travelin texan. yes, no, and sort of.

At this moment I am receiving Very strong digital signals/pictures on my high definition tv thru the roof antenna. If you can't get local channels 7.1, 7.2, 13, 13.1, 13.2, 13.3, etc, your not getting digital signals. The tv is a 26" LCD HD Samsung. I will not need a converter box to receive digital signals. If you have a HD ready tv attach your rg-6 coax from the roof antenna to the "air" port on the back, go thru menu set-up to establish all the parameters, kick back and enjoy.

If you do not have hd ready tvs, and I do have three of them,, yes you will need a converter box.
