Has anyone ever been to an RV Park or Campground that didn't offer mailboxes or a place where mail can be forwarded to? Rock Crusher Canyon RV Resort (now Elite Resort) in Crystal River, FL will not be accepting mail for its campers after May 1, 2008. They suggested that campers get a P.O. Box but I know for a fact that full-timers without a physical address cannot legally do that.
My mail goes to my home address out of state and I only occasionally receive mail here - and it's usually urgent mail. But I don't want to purchase a PO Box for the rare mail that I do have to have forwarded. I pay all my bills automatically and I pick up my mail when I travel home (which is frequently, except during the winter).
I thought anyone that was thinking about coming down here next winter might want to know this ahead of time for next year. First they stopped picking up garbage (which is reasonable since we can walk to the dumpster) and then they changed their reservation system (must be paid in full when made) and now they won't be handling the mail. Since they are turning this into a condo park, I don't understand the mail thing. People are not going to want to drive to the Post Office to get their mail in the winter (since many already pay a forwarding service).
Am I the only one that thinks this is strange? If they are planning to upgrade the park like we've heard, you would think they would just create a more secure mailbox system. That's the excuse they used as to why they will no longer be handling the mail. Do other parks handle mail for their guests?
We are one of the many ready to flee, never to return to what used to be a great park.

Yes, we have stayed in parks where they do not handle guests' mail. Regardless, we usually opt to receive our mail via General Delivery at a nearby post office. Never have had a problem.
Cathy got it right, General Delivery, we've been using it on and off for 8 yrs of full timing and no problem. I always call or stop by the PO first to make sure they accept Gen Del, some of them make you fill out a registration card.
I agree with the others. Have a neighbor forward the mail to your name, In Care Of General Delivery, Crystal River, FL., and you can pick it up at the post office at your leisure. Just show some I.D. We've been doing that for several years now. And Crystal River P.O. will do it because we've used them before.
