Hi everybody
I bought the brake control under you guys advisement and it seems to be very smooth but I don't know if I'm adjusting it properly.
I have a 6500lbs trailer and I have set at 6.3 and I turned the little wheel until the wheels lock up at 25 miles an hour using the lever at the bottom, then backed it a little. Is that right. When I brake it shows on the digital screen variable # up to about 3.4.
I think that I'm using my vehicle brakes a lot more than my trailer. I just want to make sure that I'm set up properly. I feel like I should increase the intensity i.e. the wheel or the digital # higher but I don't know. I feel a little stupid with this one. I was use to my old analog basic unit but maybe I'm just making it more than it is. Help!!!
Thanks

You seem to be on track. Braking is somewhat a matter of preference. I prefer to feel the little tug from the trailer when I'm braking at slow speeds, telling my the trailer brakes are doing more of the work. Some don't like that.
You will get a better feel for it as you drive around town, if you're hitting your head on the steering wheel, it's adjusted too high. If you're not feeling anything from the trailer brakes as you are coming to a slow stop, it's adjusted too low. Not all that scientific, I know, but it's worked for me now for years.

Do you have it set on one of the boost modes? Wit the trailer weight I would try it wit no boost and if you don't feel comfortable with that just take it up to boost 1 and see if that helps if not take it up higher to boost 2.

It sounds like you have the voltage set correctly. So now you can tweek it to your own comfort. Don't worry too much, it's not an exact science! Have you experimented with the boost setting? You won't feel much from the trailer brakes with boost set to off, because the TV brakes will always be leading (applying first). Boost lets the trailer brakes lead the TV a little bit so you feel them working. For my 7000 pound trailer I like the boost on 2 in the hills, but I find the extra tugging is annoying on the flats so I set it to 1.

Where is the boost setting. I only noticed the wheel on the left and the button on the right. Is there a different setting.

It's the button. Sets the boost. But in fact. If it is set correctly. You won't feel it working. It won't jerk, It won't grab. It is seemless. If you don't feel the TT pushing you. You are good to go.
If as you say. The TT brakes lock at 25 mph when you push the lever. and yopu backed off a little, To where they almost lock. It's right.
as for the numbers you see while braking. The Prodigy will only send what is needed under the type of braking even you are having. If you have to brakes real hard. Higher numbers will show up. The harder the higher. It depends on how far you swing that electronic pendulem.

Tune as you said with the wheel. Then select the boost level you want.
The digital readout should display b1, b2, b3 as you hit the boost button. I use b2 on the fast road(7k), b1 on the slow road.

On my dakota I had mine set so it pretty much stopped like normal under normal conditions. No real pull, no push, just stopped like nothing was behind me. Great controller, just tweak on it while on your next trip, you'll find your setting.

I use b2 all the time. Never need to readjust it with a 7000# gross weight trailer.
