Hi guys, I have both a laptop with streets and trips 2008 and a magellan miestro 3250. I like not always having to have the laptop open in the truck. BUT the older usb gps receiver I bought 3 years ago off Ebay kinda stinks. Its no where as sensitive as the Magellan is. I can get reception in our 2 story home on the first floor with the magellan. I get no signal at all wih the oldusb gps receiver.

Does anyone have a recomendation on a usb gps receiver? How is the SIRF III chipset?

PS: you cant beat the detail and ability to zoom in and out with streets of trips and a 15" LCDscreen

thanks

I don't have one but I undersand the new TESEO chipset is the fastest and bestes, The new Delorme 2009 Street Atlas with their TESEO hockey puck is $79 right now.

Don't know who has what, but yes, SiRF front end is what you want. The 600 series Garmin I had had full lock on the ground floor of a 2 story house. My Quest and GPS/V have nothing.

I didn't like to leave the laptop in the open either and decided to go with a touch screen.

This works nicely in case you don't want to buy a second receiver.

Lot more details when you click the link in my signature.

heitjer,

You need to go look at the specs for the new Street Atlas 2009 from DeLorme, with that setup you may be in hog heaven!

DeLorme has just come out with a new receiver, the LT-40, specs look great and packaged with the new Street Atlas it's around $60.

The LT 40 uses the TESEO chipset which is supposedly better than the SIRF chipset.
