Quote: It is not the amount of time one takes at the dump it is the perspective of the one dumping or waiting to dump. If you are in line the person dumping is taking too much time. If you are the one dumping you are hurrying and do not have enough time
I agree, I get upset when the person is disorganized and it takes him a lot longer than I think it should be taking. I really get fried when a person goes inside and sits down with a cup of coffee. HOW RUDE! I can't see how it would take anyone 30 minutes to dump. If it does, something is seriously wrong with the way they are doing it.

For some two minutes is to long as you can see from the above post. I have a system that works and I am usually done in about 10 minutes. I hate to wait and do not want others to wait. I can tell you though that usually the ones beeping the horn or complaining that everyone is taking to long are the ones that take the longest. They spend their time waiting getting worked up and griping and when they get up to the dump they are not ready and then they take their time. I say have a system, be ready when it's your turn, do what you gotta do, and then move on. If you are one of the really impatient people that has a hard time waiting, leave early or wait until the line clears. I know, I used to be that person. I have seen a lot of weekends ruined by people; including myself, at the dump station. Relax, take a deep breath and remember S$&* happens. Works for me

If the campground dump station is full I usually hit a truck stop or some rest area equipped with a dump station.

It seems like the older you get the longer it takes.
Oh - dump *stations*!
Put the gloves on before you pull into the station. Get the short hose out and put it on. (I have two hoses - the shorter one is easier to use at a dump station I dont want to wrestle with the 20' stinky anaconda) Pull the black valve. When it stops running, close it and open the grey valve. When it stops running close it. Pull off the hose and put the cover on. Pick up the hose carefully to make sure any leftovers in the hose go down the drain. Shove the hose back in the storage. pull off the gloves as you are walking back to the truck. Use the hand sanitizer as DW drives away.
I never timed it. Probably less than 5 minutes.

Yup that's pretty much it. I may be a little understated on the 5 minutes, but it's not much more. My black is 37 gallons and is rarely completely full and my 2 grays are 37 each also. The kitchen one is rarely full; the shower tanks is the one that really rinses out the line.

In my opinion, if people are waiting, the answer is "as little time as possible." It's that simple.

Over the years I have learned to do it quickly and efficiently. 10 minutes max. (even using my in-tank flusher)
I also have learned patience. This lesson took many years. I refuse to get upset about the insignificant details of life, like how long the guy ahead of me takes to dump his tanks. We camp mostly in State and National parks where there is plenty of beautiful scenery to enjoy while waiting. I always hate to leave anyway, so this just delays that a bit.
Face it, there are plenty of RVers that have much less experience at this stuff than I do, so if it looks like they are struggling, I usually offer to help.

As long as it takes to do a basic dump of all tanks. Black then grey........... flushes to hose realitively clean. Flushing and taking 30 minutes when there is a long line seems excessive. Tanks simply so not have to be "spotless" every time. If you must flush out, a quick one please.
